Get ready to witness Mai Shiranui’s performance! In Street Fighter 6, she’ll be showcasing her flaming fan dance and lightning-fast maneuvers.
Is it possible that Mai remains an outstanding character in Street Fighter 6? She employs strategic moves to overcome opponents, making matches feel like fluid dances. At the same time, Mai Shiranui retains a beginner-friendly nature while still being engaging for players of all skill levels. Could she maintain her appealing traits in this upcoming game?
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that Mai has been introduced as the latest addition to the SF6 roster! The community’s response to her unveiling was warm and welcoming, and now, we’re treated to the official gameplay trailer for SF6 Mai. Can’t wait to see her in action!
Mai Shiranui in Street Fighter 6: Gameplay trailer
The unveiling of the actual gameplay has been scheduled for January 13, at 3 p.m. Pacific Time/ 6 p.m. Eastern Time. Feel free to watch the SF6 Mai trailer directly, as it’s conveniently embedded below.
Based on Mai’s typical fighting style, it’s reasonable to anticipate that she will be a swift character, both in terms of her movement speed and attack rate. Mai’s strategy should involve overwhelming opponents with rapid strikes. Maintaining this pressure is crucial for Mai, as she tends to have less health and deals relatively lower damage compared to other fighters in the roster.
In a traditional sense, Mai often uses her dance fan for combat purposes, which can also function as a projectile. Moreover, her abilities extend to summoning fiery flames that pose a significant threat in battle.
1. Her kicks have a long range. The players on my team should employ these kicks strategically, using them to probe the opposition’s defense and search for an opportunity to score. (Informal)
2. Her kicks extend quite far. Players from our side could utilize these kicks tactically, by testing the opposing defense and seeking a chance to exploit their weaknesses. (Formal)
SF6 Mai release date
In simple terms, we can expect Mai Shiranui to appear in Street Fighter 6 sometime around early 2025. The developers might reveal the exact release date along with a gameplay trailer.
Capcom followed a similar approach with Terry’s release. Initially, they disclosed the character would be released within the Fall of 2024. Later on, during the Gamescom 2024 presentation, they revealed that Terry Bogard was actually available for gameplay in Street Fighter 6 earlier than expected.
Mai Shiranui in other games
To begin with, Mai Shiranui hails from the SNK universe, more precisely, she’s a part of both the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters franchises. Throughout various games, Mai has left an indelible mark, becoming truly emblematic.

It has been announced that Mai will be a playable character in the upcoming fighting game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, joining a legendary lineup that includes Ken and Chun-Li, who are also featured in Fatal Fury COTW (Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves).
Several other popular gaming series are keen on teaming up with KOF/Fatal Fury for a crossover event, aiming to introduce Mai Shiranui as a character skin (or similar) in their games. Mai can already be found in various titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Black Desert Online. One of the latest collaborations is a KOF-themed event in Naraka: Bladepoint.
It’s definitely intriguing to witness the potential accomplishments of top-tier SF6 players using Mai Shiranui. Could we possibly see her debut at the Capcom Cup 2025, which is scheduled from March 5 to March 8?
