The Real Housewives of Rhode Island star Alicia Carmody reveals she once ‘ran over a woman’ with her car

On Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, Alicia Carmody surprised everyone – even the show’s creators – with a startling revelation.

Okay, so I was doing a confessional, just talking, and it just… slipped out. I mean, I’ve had some… incidents, you know? And I said it, I actually said I hit a woman with my car. It sounded so casual, even I was shocked, but it just… came out. It’s awful, but honestly, talking about it feels… weirdly freeing. I can’t believe I actually admitted that on camera!

‘I’ve almost driven off a bridge. So, I’ve been there, done that with driving.’

An off-camera producer then clarified: ‘What do you mean, you ran over a woman?’

‘I ran over a woman,’ Carmody repeated.

Us Weekly reported more details on Sunday about the accident, which occurred when the reality TV star drove into a red light at a slow speed of 15 miles per hour.

‘This woman just dove in front of my car,’ Carmody claimed.

That experience completely changed my life. It was terrifying – for a moment, I genuinely believed I had caused someone’s death, and it was the most awful feeling imaginable. I think it likely gave me post-traumatic stress. While accidents happen, this one was just the absolute worst.

Thankfully, the ex-hair and makeup artist avoided a serious crime like some celebrities who caused accidents while driving – and often didn’t face any prison time.

In 1987, actor Matthew Broderick, known for his role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, was found guilty of careless driving in Northern Ireland. He received a £100 fine after his rented car crashed into another vehicle, tragically resulting in the deaths of Anna Gallagher and her mother, Margaret Doherty.

Although Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner wasn’t criminally charged after a 2015 car accident in Malibu that resulted in the death of Kim Howe, she did reach settlements in three civil lawsuits filed by stepchildren and other drivers involved.

In 2001, actress Rebecca Gayheart hit nine-year-old Jorge Cruz Jr. with her car in Los Angeles. She was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay a $2,800 fine. She also reached a settlement with the boy’s parents after they filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

In 2006, R&B singer Brandy was involved in a car accident on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles that resulted in the death of another driver, Awatef Aboudihaj. Although she wasn’t arrested, Brandy did settle lawsuits filed by the victim’s family.

Some celebrities have faced prison time for causing deaths while driving, including Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe, who served 15 days, and Amy Locane-Bovenizer, who received an eight-year sentence.

Carmody and Bill Kitsilis started dating in 2016, got engaged in 2018, and welcomed their daughter, Celina, that same year.

A woman of Italian American heritage and the father of her child jointly own Pizza Mamma, a restaurant in her hometown of Cranston.

Kitsilis also owns Angelo’s Palace Pizza and Antonio’s Pizza by the Slice.
