Jesy Nelson makes motherhood U-turn as she announces that she is pregnant with twins after previously admitting she’s ‘never had that maternal feeling’
Pregnant Jesy Nelson has seemingly had a change of heart about motherhood, after previously claiming that she’s ‘never had that maternal feeling‘.
33-year-old former member of Little Mix, previously posted a picture on Instagram over the weekend, showcasing her expanding belly, announcing that she is carrying twins with her ex-boyfriend Zion, who is 26 years old.
Recently, Jesy was spotted grinning broadly next to Zion, several months following reports of their breakup in September. The singer has stated that she’s currently enjoying three meals a day.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I find myself reflecting on the journey of Jesy, who has recently announced her pregnancy. Previously, she shared her sentiments about motherhood, expressing that it wasn’t something she envisioned for herself, stating, “I just don’t want children; it’s not in me.” Now, however, it seems she’s experiencing a change of heart and embracing this new chapter with excitement.
In 2021, she told Glamour UK: ‘No I don’t want children.’
She added: ‘It’s just not in me. I think as a woman, [motherhood is] either in you or it isn’t.
‘You either have that maternal feeling or you don’t, and I’ve never had that feeling.’
At that point, Jesy held a great admiration towards women who decide to be mothers, viewing her own mother as nothing short of a superhero.
As a child, Jesy lived in a household headed by one parent alongside three other siblings, yet she confessed that the idea of having a baby had never crossed her mind.
Before making their split public on Sunday, Jesy and the rapper had been dating for around 18 months, but they ended their relationship in November 2023.
After separating five months back, the pair have recently reconnected, though they’ve suggested there might be another reconciliation on the horizon, as they posted a warm photo to announce their upcoming parenthood.
Jesy and Zion previously split last summer after Jesy struggled with their nine year age gap.
Regardless of how they managed to reunite, this duo has been working on songs together again. One of these collaborations was made public in August, while more are still pending release.
After news broke about their breakup, Zion verified the split when he commented on an OK! TikTok post: “A truly wonderful woman, may she find only good fortune from now on.
The news left fans feeling disheartened. Their responses ranged from, “What a pity, they seemed to be a charming duo,” to, “I was thrilled about their music, really.
‘She deserves to be treated with the respect and admiration that a beautiful individual merits’ (for the first sentence)
‘I can hardly believe it; they appeared so compatible’ (for the second sentence)
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Jesy and Zion parted ways about a month ago, and have severed all connections with one another. This isn’t their first breakup, but friends believe that this time, it’s permanent.
Although there’s a slight inconvenience, it’s due to the fact that they had an album prepared with their joint compositions, but Jesy is reluctant about its release at this moment.
In November 2023, it was verified that Jesy had reconciled with her boyfriend Zion, whom she had parted ways with three months earlier following a nine-month relationship.
In early January 2023, they were seen together for the first time, following rumors from the previous year that their friendship had deepened.
Jesy’s statement follows her causing some surprise among fans back in October, when she posted a mysterious message to them following a reflection by her ex-bandmate Perrie Edwards about the ending of their friendship within Little Mix.
In December 2020, Jesy Nelson, a well-known singer, announced her departure from Little Mix, citing the continuous strain of being in a girl group as too challenging for her – since then, it appears she has grown somewhat distant from her former bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Ann Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall.
Following Perrie’s conversation about their friendship ending on a podcast, Jesy posted a mysterious message on her Instagram Stories instead.
The creator behind The Boyz’s hits posted a message on a dark backdrop that read, “The web is unsettling, and so are people.
On Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Perrie opened up about how the breakdown of her friendship with Jesy served as the inspiration behind a fresh composition she penned.
She mentioned: “I composed a tune about it – a friendship that used to be, but isn’t anymore. It seems we’re struggling to discuss the end of friendships.
Experiencing a deep sense of sorrow remains, especially when we journey together through ups and downs, only for them to suddenly disappear.
‘But these things happen. Do we try and rectify things? Or just stay away?’
