Heartbreak as long-running Sydney Hit Network radio show is axed after 14 years
Long-running 2Day FM Sydney show, Mike E & Emma, has been axed after nearly two decades on the air.
Co-presenter Emma Chow confirmed the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Monday in a sad statement.
Allow me to share some mixed emotions with you. After approximately fourteen years, the adventure of Mike E and Emma has concluded. This was the opening statement made by Chow.
Chow went on to thank her loyal listeners for their many years of support.
We began our radio journey at The Edge as infants, and I’m incredibly thankful and proud of each moment we spent there working together,” she concluded.
‘Most of all, thank YOU for listening and growing up with us.’
Chow then confirmed her working relationship with her co-star Mike Etheridge was over.
From hereon, you’ll notice us charting our unique path. Despite this, we remain close friends and genuinely hope the best for one another. Starting from 2025, there are exciting developments on the horizon.
Chow chose not to disclose why the series concluded, and as of yet, there’s been no personal statement from Etheridge regarding the matter.
According to recent news, it seems that The Hit Network is making significant strides in their efforts to challenge the dominant rating position of The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM.
As a die-hard admirer, I can confidently say that The Hit Network is my go-to destination for daily dose of entertainment! It’s the place where Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little rule the airwaves with their wildly popular drive show. And let me tell you, the competition doesn’t stand a chance against Kyle, Jackie O, Fifi, Fev, and Nick! Their rival show is just as captivating and keeps me hooked all day long.
In August, Hit Network unveiled a significant overhaul involving several of its on-air personalities, as they engaged in a fierce breakfast ratings battle with KIIS FM.
104.1 2DayFM announced a shift in the schedule for the Mike E & Emma show, which was previously on their Sydney morning program, due to competition with The Kyle and Jackie O show on KIIS FM.
Starting from August 26, the program began airing every Monday through Thursday during primetime hours nationally, and during the weekend mornings as part of the national breakfast schedule.

Mike E and Emma said at the time: ‘See you later 4am alarm!
We’re thrilled to broadcast the playful humor of Mike E & Emma on national late-night shows throughout the week, followed by energizing morning broadcasts that will rouse Australia during weekends.
We’re eagerly looking forward to sharing even more laughter-filled chats with our devoted friends across the nation!
The popular radio duo, led by Hit Metro Content’s Head, Amanda Lee, has been cherished in Sydney for more than a decade. It’s now time for this beloved team to expand their reach nationally.
She mentioned that it’s thrilling to give the rest of the nation a chance to develop feelings for them now.
