Los Angeles Unova Tour is currently still going ahead, say Niantic

Niantic have issued a statement to Xpsp about the Unova Tour in Los Angeles.

Niantic has informed Xpsp that the arrangements for the Unova Tour in Los Angeles are still underway, notwithstanding the ongoing wildfires in the city.

As a gamer, I’m keeping an eye on the situation in Los Angeles right now, as there are five blazes burning across the area. The biggest one, known as the Eaton Fire, is heading towards Pasadena, which happens to be where the real-life Los Angeles Unova‘s Park Experience is taking place at the Rose Bowl Stadium. So, it looks like they might need to move things indoors if this fire keeps advancing.

Niantic have shared an official statement with Xpsp about the unfolding situation.

A spokesperson for Niantic told Xpsp:

We’re closely monitoring the circumstances in Los Angeles, keeping in mind the welfare of Pasadena, the wider Los Angeles area, and our Niantic community. Right now, we’re still working on preparations for an upcoming event. Any new information about the event will be announced as soon as it’s ready.

Currently, the Unova Tour in Los Angeles, scheduled for February 21-23, is set to proceed as planned. Yet, it’s important to note that this event is still quite a ways off, with plenty of time for changes. There has been a notable amount of apprehension expressed about the event on social media platforms.

The worry arises mainly because the Eaton Fire is approaching Pasadena, a place where many Trainers usually spend most of their time. Notably, the Rose Bowl Stadium in this location serves as a command center for emergency response operations at present.

Situation to be monitored by Niantic

Currently, it’s not unexpected that Niantic is merely observing the evolving scenario. The full extent of the damage and impact from the incident is still uncertain at this point. It’s possible that Niantic might need to alter their plans for the event, but at this stage, it’s premature to predict what the situation will develop into.

Potential stressors for the event may involve displaced residents staying in hotels, harm to the Pasadena area, particularly the neighborhood and the Rose Bowl stadium. Nevertheless, given that the event is more than 40 days away, everyone – including Niantic – can only observe and be patient.

Keep an eye on Xpsp for more information regarding the Unova Tour’s upcoming developments. Meanwhile, the American Red Cross is accepting donations to aid their efforts in assisting those affected by the fires.
