Astonishing moment woman in the crowd SHUTS DOWN Dave Hughes’ comedy gig: ‘Censor my gig’

Okay, look, I’m a HUGE Dave Hughes fan, seriously. But even he gets heckled! It’s unbelievable, honestly. You’d think someone as famous and hilarious as Hughesy would be safe from that, but apparently not. It’s shocking, really!

The 55-year-old comedian shared a strange interaction he had with someone in the audience on Instagram Monday. It happened during his stand-up show in Noosa over the weekend.

He posted a brief video of himself talking to a woman who was standing in the walkway.

Although we don’t have much background information, the woman seemed upset and repeatedly looked at the audience as if seeking approval.

Dave explained that the woman in the video tried to stop him from performing, something he said had never occurred in his 30 years as a comedian.

Dave shared that, after 33 years of performing stand-up comedy, someone in the front row tried to stop him from telling a joke for the first time ever.

He shared that the interaction happened about 20 minutes into his performance at the J Theatre in Noosa, which had been going very well until then.

Dave explained the woman seemed upset because he was telling jokes onstage about his sixteen-year-old son, Rafferty.

He explained that about 20 minutes into the show, everything was going well until a woman stood up and shouted ‘Stop!’ She then turned to the audience and told him he shouldn’t joke about their son during the performance.

I tried to explain that we playfully tease each other all the time, and it’s just how we show affection. I also told her I was really proud of him, but she didn’t accept my explanation.

Dave explained that the woman left on her own, rather than being asked to leave.

Dave later discovered she was actually there to help care for another person attending the event.

Dave explained that she left during his performance. He later learned she was there to look after someone else and likely didn’t even know what his show was about.

The man she cared for also needed a ride home and left shortly after she did.

Dave continued, saying he wished he knew of the situation while the incident was unfolding.

Oh my gosh, if I’d just known he was leaving while he was up there performing, I would have yelled at him to please stay! I would have offered him a ride home, no question – I had a car rented specifically hoping I’d get the chance. Seriously, I was ready to be his chauffeur, anything to keep him around just a little longer!

‘I’m happy to give him a refund or free tix to another show if he sees this!’

Oh my gosh, when Dave posted about everything, the comments just EXPLODED! Everyone was saying how thoughtful he was handling the whole situation, and honestly, I completely agree. It just proves what I already knew – he’s amazing and really gets it. I spent hours reading all the supportive comments, it was incredible to see so many people recognizing his brilliance!

Someone commented that it was a great night and really appreciated how considerate and respectful you were. They also expressed hope that you’ll visit Noosa again soon!

Someone else agreed, praising @dhughesy’s handling of the situation: ‘You were really professional, handling it with humor and grace.’

We had a fantastic and funny time last night, and our 15-year-old daughter really enjoyed it as well!

Daily Mail has reached out to Dave Hughes for comment.

Dave is known for being adventurous and trying new things, but he recently admitted he once crossed a line and upset his wife Holly’s family.

He confessed that he unexpectedly burst out laughing while hosting a radio show, which was especially insensitive considering Holly’s grandmother had recently passed away.

A few years ago, while I was on the radio shortly after my wife’s grandmother died, I unexpectedly started laughing. I don’t recall exactly what happened or what caused it, but it occurred during that difficult time, as I told Stellar Magazine recently.

‘It was inappropriate and I knew that. It’s like laughing in church,’ he continued.

‘Sometimes you’re not meant to laugh. And so that’s when you do laugh because you’re not meant to.

I was struggling to contain my laughter, but it seems her uncle overheard something and took offense – and honestly, I understood why.

‘So that took a little bit to get him back on board.’

Dave and Holly got married on New Year’s Eve in 2006 and have three children: Rafferty, who is 16, Sadie, 14, and Tess, 12.
