League of Legends returns to NA and Korea for Worlds

Worlds 2026 and 2027 will return to North America and Korea.

Riot Games has officially announced that the 2026 and 2027 League of Legends World Championships (Worlds) will be held in two major regions: North America (NA) in 2026 and South Korea in 2027.

Today, in a brief developer update video for League of Legends, the team disclosed the regions that will be hosting numerous major esports tournaments over the coming years. It was previously announced that the 2025 World Championship will take place in China, while North America (NA) and Korea will each get to host the prestigious event again in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

MSI and Worlds take center stage

Prior to teams reaching the World Championship, another significant esports event takes place – the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). As revealed in the video above, Canada will be hosting MSI in 2025, followed by South Korea in 2026 and a return to Europe in 2027.

The premier League of Legends esports event for each year, known as Worlds, has already been set for China in 2025. Initially, the Play-Ins and Swiss Stage will take place in Beijing, followed by the Quarterfinals and Semifinals shifting to Shanghai. Lastly, the Grand Finals for Worlds 2025 will be held in Chengdu, where the champion will be determined. The specific venues are yet to be confirmed, but they’ll likely be announced as we progress through the year, with the new season on the horizon.

In 2026, League of Legends World Championship comes back to North America (NA) after a four-year absence since 2022. We don’t know which cities or states will host each phase yet, but NA enthusiasts are already ecstatic about its return. In contrast, Korea will have its turn in the limelight again in 2027 as Worlds returns for the first time there since 2018. Fans of the region have much to celebrate recently, especially with T1 claiming another championship in 2024. So, it’s expected that they will be just as thrilled in 2027.

As excitement builds about the Noxus-themed season in League of Legends starting today, the announcement of international sports venues for future events only increases anticipation. With plenty on the horizon, the game’s esports community remains a shining star among its competitors.
