As a fervent admirer, I’ve been keeping tabs on the latest developments since Take-Two Interactive sold off the Private Division label back in November. Exciting rumors are swirling that some ex-employees from Annapurna Interactive might be gearing up to manage the portfolio, following their departure in September.
As per a report by Bloomberg, it is believed that Haveli Investments, a private equity firm situated in Austin, Texas, will acquire Private Division. This deal apparently includes an agreement with a group of former Annapurna employees to finance a new team, giving them control over distributing titles from Private Division’s collection.
Approximately twenty employees from Private Division have transferred to the newly acquired company, but according to a report, some of these may face layoffs. It appears that the company’s leadership is encouraging current staff members to explore alternative employment opportunities due to the uncertainty surrounding the yet-unnamed company.
Among the titles and franchises covered in the Private Division agreement are “Tales from the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game,” slated for release in March, as well as the “Kerbal Space Program” series, and “No Rest for the Wicked,” the latest creation from Moon Studios, who also developed “Ori.” Here’s hoping we see a console version of the latter game soon!
