In an exhilarating preview, Steven Knight’s upcoming drama, “A Thousand Blows,” directed by the masterful mind behind “Peaky Blinders,” offers a tantalizing glimpse into the lives of its dynamic cast, as they bring their characters to life before the film hits screens in February. I, being one of the eagerly waiting fans, can hardly contain my excitement!
In the past, the six-part Disney series has revealed a complete trailer and several sneak peeks of its primary characters. However, this time, fans can catch a detailed look at Erin Doherty as Mary Carr and her entire female criminal group known as The Forty Elephants.
Here, Doherty is joined by a group of fellow actors who have previously appeared in various productions – Hannah Walters from “Boiling Point”, Jemma Carlton from “Lockerbie: A Search for Truth”, Caoilfhionn Dunne from “Industry”, Morgan Hilaire, Darci Shaw, and Nadia Albina. All of them are dressed in costumes for the first time together in this setting.
The story A Thousand Blows unfolds in London’s East End during the 1880s, delving into the harsh reality of underground bare-knuckle fighting. Stephen Graham is prominently featured as Sugar Goodson, and Malachi Kirby joins the cast as a fresh competitor who develops a fierce rivalry with Sugar.
In addition to his roles in “Line of Duty” and “The Long Shadow,” Daniel Mays is set to appear, taking on the role of a character named William ‘Punch’ Lewis.
Presently, the second season of Steven Knight’s war drama series titled “SAS Rogue Heroes” is broadcasting on BBC. Simultaneously, he is engrossed in the production of the upcoming film adaptation of “Peaky Blinders,” as well as a new Netflix project named “House of Guinness,” featuring actors like James Norton and Jack Gleeson.
Apart from Stephen Graham, another crime drama titled “Adolescence” is coming to Netflix, featuring Ashley Walters as well. This four-part series has been filmed in one long take and is expected to premiere in 2025; however, the exact release date hasn’t been announced yet.
A Thousand Blows will premiere on Disney Plus on February 21, 2025.
