American Bluey viewers are shocked to learn Aussies have a different name for a very well-known store

American Bluey viewers are shocked to learn Aussies have a different name for a very well-known store

American Bluey enthusiasts are perplexed following the revelation about what Australians refer to a widely recognized retail outlet.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I found myself swept up in a wave of nostalgia when revisiting the beloved third-season episode “TV Shop” of that globally adored children’s animation show. The excitement among viewers was palpable and contagious!

In a thrilling turn of events, I found myself utterly captivated as Bluey and Bingo danced around, turning their playtime into an exciting adventure at the local Pharmacy Warehouse, where they were busy exploring the mysterious world of CCTV cameras!

Nevertheless, American viewers found themselves perplexed upon hearing Bingo refer to a pharmacy as a “chemist,” which is a common expression from Australia instead.

On Facebook, an American posed a curious query: ‘I’m just wondering, do Australians often refer to pharmacists as “chemists”, similar to the way Bandit’s character did on the TV show Pharmacy?’

Australians subsequently addressed the comments, explaining that ‘chemist’ is a frequently used term for a pharmacy in their region, expressing surprise at the misunderstanding.

It’s quite common knowledge in Australia, as evidenced by the name of one major pharmacy chain there – Chemist Warehouse.

Absolutely, you can acquire your medication from a pharmacy, not just that but also perfumes, candies, cosmetics, and many other items – particularly at Chemist Warehouse.

‘Yeah I go to the chemist,’ another commented.

A third person made it clear that in Australia and New Zealand, both phrases – “I need something from the chemist” and “I need something from the pharmacy” – are commonly used and accurate.

‘We have Chemist Warehouse and Priceline Pharmacy so both work,’ another added.

In essence, one might use the terms ‘chemist’ and ‘pharmacy’ almost synonymously. Personally, I often refer to the place where I get my medications as the ‘chemist’, but it’s actually staffed by a ‘pharmacist’.

In Australia, another individual joined the discussion by stating that many people typically refer to the physical store as a chemist, while the area where medications are dispensed is commonly known as a pharmacy.

In Australia, the UK, and New Zealand, you’ll often hear the term ‘chemist’ instead of ‘pharmacist’. This usage is quite common in these regions.

Despite being an Australian-produced cartoon series, Bluey has garnered immense popularity in the U.S., consistently ranking at the top of its TV ratings for the past two consecutive years.

For over two years, an animated kids’ show has consistently ranked among the top 10 most-streamed TV series in the United States.

Earlier this month, data on viewer numbers was collected by Nielsen Ratings, a service that monitors television audience in the United States, as reported by Comicbook.com.

As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that, based on Nielsen’s surveys, Bluey has consistently ranked among the top ten streaming shows in the U.S. since last October.

In over 60 different nations, the beloved animated series Bluey can be found airing. All three seasons of this Emmy-winning show are accessible for viewing on ABC iview.

Since its debut on screens in 2018, this acclaimed animated show has grown to be a beloved choice among both children and their parents.

Recently, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company revealed plans to debut Bluey’s initial animated feature movie in cinemas. This project will be penned and guided by the show’s creator, Joe Brumm.

Brumm expressed that he found working with a more extended format in The Sign in Series 3 particularly gratifying, and taking it to the next level with a full-length feature film seems like a logical progression from that experience.

For quite some time now, it’s been my belief that Bluey should have its own cinematic adventure. My hope is that this becomes a shared, immersive experience that the entire family can appreciate and enjoy collectively.
