Ice Spice breaks her silence and begs Aussie fans to ‘forgive me’ after US rapper’s Brisbane New Years Eve set ended after just five minutes
Ice Spice issued an apology following the reduction of her performance at the Wildlands Festival in Brisbane to a mere five-minute slot.
25-year-old rapper performed at three separate venues for the festival – Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide – but her New Year’s Eve performance ended poorly when her microphone was abruptly shut off during her third song due to the festival’s stringent curfew.
According to the audience, Ice Spice was scheduled to perform at 10:30 PM for half an hour, but she didn’t step onto the stage until 10:55 PM instead.
She managed to perform Deli, Princess Diana, and part of In Ha Mood.
Apologizing for being late during her performance at the Perth event on Saturday, Ice Spice expressed: “I’m sorry everyone, I hope you can all forgive me.
In reference to her collaboration with Nicki Minaj titled Barbie World, she joked, “Since it was my birthday, transforming into a Barbie certainly took some time.
The organizers of the festival clarified that it was essential for them to adhere to the schedule so they could conduct the New Year’s countdown and conclude the event precisely at 12:30 PM.
In response to disappointed festival attendees about Ice Spice’s late appearance, Wildlands acknowledged: ‘We realize that her delay in arriving has been upsetting.’
Coordinating a multi-act festival requires us to be very disciplined about scheduling. We had a firm cutoff at 12:30 AM and made sure the closing performance started promptly, allowing everyone to participate in the New Year’s Eve countdown.
According to journalist Brenton Larney, at precisely 11:01 PM (given an additional minute), the microphone was turned off, causing a deep sigh from the audience. They had been anticipating longer and were only given two songs in return.
She showed a lack of respect by walking away while laughing, even when people were trying to give her flowers as a birthday gift; instead, she dismissed the gesture with a casual shrug.
Despite Ice Spice (real name Isis Naija Gaston) having just a 30-minute timeframe for her performance, numerous partygoers persisted, eager to enjoy the final five minutes to the fullest.
With a vibrant pink coat and a striking, long orange wig that’s all hers, this globally recognized figure is said to have sung two to three numbers before the microphone suddenly stopped working.

A stagehand was seen running over to the artist before the stage was quickly cleared.
Ice Spice threw her fans a peace sign and was booed from the stage as she marched from the stage.
Festival-goers forked out as much as $242 each to join the event hosted at Brisbane Showground, with some taking a six-hour journey just to witness the rapper’s performance.
Dozens of attendees vented their anger online afterwards.
Angrily, someone commented, “She’s being paid handsomely to appear and perform, yet she’s running late. It seems like she thinks she’s above punctuality.
Another added: ‘Genuine question: does anyone actually like Ice Spice?’
A bystander asked: “Could someone clarify why artists often run late for their performances at festivals? Since they’re typically present throughout the day, it seems unusual. What factors contribute to these delays?
A fourth chimed in, “It’s awkward for Ice Spice, she learned the hard way about punctuality at work,” another commented.
Other attendees commented festival organisers Untitled Group on how it handled the situation.
The organizers were truly commendable for sticking to the schedule instead of letting her tardiness cause everything else to be delayed,” was one comment.
Another added: ‘She’s disrespectful, so good on Wildlands.’
A third wrote: ‘Them pulling the plug on her was iconic.’
Some people have demanded that Ice Spice should no longer perform at the forthcoming Wildlands events in Perth and Adelaide this weekend.
One person mentioned that Ice Spice might miss every performance in Australia, laughing it off and suggesting they remove her from the schedule. (lmao = laugh out loud)
Another added: ‘Drop her for Perth wildlands and give her spot to an Aussie artist.
A third wrote: ‘Tell Ice Spice to go home, Perth doesn’t need her.’
The organizing group known as “Untitled” (previously associated with the Beyond the Valley festival) has promoted Wildlands as offering the “superior audio-visual experience.
Additionally, artists such as Australian DJ Fisher, the electronic duo Chase & Status, and German DJ Marlon Hoffstadt were also part of the lineup.
It is clear that Gaston arrived late for his performance at the Beyond the Valley festival in Victoria on the previous Saturday.
Organisers were forced to quickly rearrange the schedule so she could perform.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Untitled Group and Ice Spice for comment.
