Coronation Street’s Katherine Kelly reveals she bonded with her The Crow Girl co-star Eve Myles over being mothers and ‘workaholics’

In a recent discussion, actress Katherine Kelly shared insights about the special connection she formed with her fellow star, Eve Myles, during the production of their upcoming show, The Crow Girl.

In the Paramount+ thriller, a 45-year-old actress takes on the role of psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven, and Eve portrays detective Jeanette Kilburn. (This version maintains the original’s structure while using simpler language to make it more accessible.)

The storyline of ‘The Crow Girl’ is based on the book written by Erik Axl Sund and focuses on the character named Jeanette, who is probing into a series of brutal murders of young men scattered throughout Bristol. These victims were discovered severely beaten and injected with Lidocaine.

Shortly, she’ll find herself partnering with Sophia, the therapist of her main suspect, to aid in tracking down the dangerous serial murderer.

As a devoted follower, I’d like to share my thoughts on the series. In our conversations, Katherine revealed that she and Eve found common ground, being us – two dedicated workaholics who also happen to be moms, constantly juggling our professional lives with the responsibilities of motherhood.

She has two daughters, Orla (aged 10) and Rose (8), whom she shares with her former spouse, Ryan Clark. Meanwhile, Eve is a mother of three girls who are all raised with her current partner, Bradley Freegard.

In conversation with The Mirror, Katherine expressed, “Our lives are quite parallel, and we’ve found ourselves at a similar juncture. We cherish our professions deeply, but our roles as mothers hold equal significance. We don’t wish to overlook any moments in either aspect of our lives. It’s true that we can be quite dedicated to our work – a trait we wear as a badge of pride.

The actress from Coronation Street shared that she moved away from Barnsley to film the show in Bristol, but she emphasized that this change actually facilitated a better harmony between her professional and personal commitments.

She mentioned that due to the pandemic, she’s been required to work outside of home quite frequently. As a result, once she steps out, she tends to fully engage in her work.

I have a tendency to be very intense and struggle to stop working because I’m not at my family home in the evening. It feels like an ongoing test – there’s always this sensation that there’s more to do and you’re never quite done. But as soon as I step inside my family home, I feel completely liberated.

In April 2020, Katherine and her former digital analyst husband, Ryan, chose a challenging path by deciding to live apart.

The former couple had been married for seven years, after tying the knot in Las Vegas in 2013.

At the given moment, a representative stated: “Katherine and Ryan chose to part ways after a challenging decision. They view this step as beneficial for each of them, and the split is entirely friendly and peaceful.

‘Their children are their top priority and they will continue to co-parent as good friends.’ 

The actress eventually developed a romantic relationship with Tony Pitts, who is well-known for his role in Line of Duty, at the age of 62. They made their relationship public in November 2022.

It is thought that their first encounter took place in the year 2019, as they were both involved in a brief movie project titled “Affection.

According to a source, they had managed to keep their romantic connection under wraps, but were spotted at several events this year, such as Royal Ascot and the ITV Palooza from earlier this month.

At the Dancing With Heroes gala, Kelly found herself constantly touching Tony, even running her fingers through the back of his hair throughout the entire event.

They’ve visited each other’s families and took a vacation together with their kids earlier in the year. Katherine is overjoyed with Tony, and it’s evident they make a fantastic pair.

In the year 2006, Katherine secured a significant opportunity by being cast as Becky McDonald in the popular, lengthy British television series Coronation Street on ITV.

At first, she agreed to star in just 12 episodes. However, her tenure turned out to be much longer than anticipated as she ended up filming over 700 episodes.

Following her departure in 2012, she continued to thrive, securing significant roles in shows such as Cheat, Liar, Mr Selfridge, Gentleman Jack, The Night Manager, Liar (again), Criminal, Mr Bates vs The Post Office, and The Long Shadow.
