This Morning’s Ben Shephard shares rare family snap with viewers
This Morning star Ben Shephard has shared a rare photo of his family with viewers.
On today’s broadcast (January 6), Shephard shared with his co-host Cat Deeley what he did during the holiday season. He mentioned that he spent the festive break in Cornwall and braved a swim in the chilly sea on Christmas Day.
He shared with Deeley, “On Christmas Day, we were actually in Cornwall.” A screen displayed an image of a sizable gathering of individuals in swimsuits. “Approximately 25 of us took a dip in the water,” he added.
Observing the scene on the left side of the photograph, featuring Shepherd accompanied by his brother and sons, Sam and Jack, Deeley jokingly commented: “Could we perhaps discuss the left side of this photo and those swim briefs?
Shepherd remarked, “My brother and I, along with my sons, are enthusiasts of the ‘budgie smuggler.’ It was unbearably chilly. The shoreline was rocky and difficult to navigate, making it quite an uncomfortable experience to enter.
During Shephard’s speech, an uncommon shot of the beaming father embracing his sons appeared momentarily on the screen.
He grinned, “It’s just me and the group of guys here. We decided to skip wearing swim trunks this morning to ensure there’s enough food for all.”
Or, more colloquially:
“I’m with my buddies and me, and we skipped our swimming shorts this morning so everyone could eat well.
The television host typically prefers to keep his personal affairs discreet, however, he has lately posted a collection of photos on Instagram as a way to celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
On a rotating display, Shephard posted a selfie featuring his spouse Annie, whom he wedded in 2004, alongside assorted family snapshots.
Hello everyone! I’ve just spent two fantastic days in Devon, on the opposite coast, with @mrsannieshephard and her loved ones. Here are some snaps to share the joy!
On New Year’s Day, it was quite rainy, but as always, @thewinkingprawn came to our aid. Then, what a sight today! The sea was boiling early in the morning at South Sands, something I’ve never seen before. Do you know if there is a name for this phenomenon?
I feel rejuvenated and eager for the journey to 2025! Join me again on Monday at @thismorning alongside @catdeeley, there’s plenty to discuss – I can hardly wait!
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
