Arcane: CaitVi scene leak surfaces on Caitlyn’s birthday

A CaitVi leaked scene has surfaced, but is this the extended cut everyone wanted?

Fans of the mysterious series, especially those who root for the relationship between Caitlyn and Vi, have flocked back to social media following the release of an alternative portrayal of their romantic moment online.

Did the CaitVi scene leak?

The short answer is… yes and no.

On Chinese social media platform Bilibili, a different version of the final product of Arcane (the Netflix show) has emerged. Given that China heavily censored Arcane, fans eagerly await any new Arcane content now that Riot Games has announced season 2 will be the last of the series.

As a devoted fan, it was quite amusing that the sneak peek of changes for my beloved character, Caitlyn, happened to drop on the day she celebrates her League of Legends anniversary – which, for the record, marks her debut as a playable champion, all the way back on January 4th, 2011.

You can see the CaitVi scene leak below.

Let’s break down the parts of the video one by one.

In the lower right corner, you’ll find a divided view. The upper portion shows the final version as we saw on Netflix, while the lower half displays the identical scene but without any lighting effects applied. This rendering quality mirrors that of the early Arcane Season 2 leaks, which were part of the significant Netflix leak.

Initially, it might appear insignificant, but the absence of brightness, fog, and various visual enhancements allowed viewers to see the “action” more distinctly. Unfortunately, some graphic scenes were concealed behind a mature audience rating label, causing disappointment among many viewers.

In this video, we’re diving right into the crux of things: the “storyboard.” It’s got a unique twist compared to the other two versions, suggesting fresh Arcane content. However, there’s a snag. The video carries a watermark from “Cobra_Art” on Bilibili, stirring up some debate about whether this storyboard is an official release or fan-created material.

What is the extended CaitVi scene?

Immediately following the end of Arcane Season 2, showrunner Christian Linke disclosed that the intimate scene shown was actually a shorter version, due to rating restrictions. This revelation sparked curiosity among CaitVi fans, leading them to initiate a Change.org petition for the release of an extended version. This campaign has gathered more than 70,000 signatures in less than a month.
