Sue Cleaver QUITS Coronation Street: Actress, 61, reveals she's leaving the soap after 25 years to pursue 'new adventures' - and shares the exact moment she decided to leave

As a dedicated follower of Coronation Street, I have been fortunate enough to witness Sue Cleaver grace our screens as Eileen Grimshaw for an incredible 25 years. Her decision to leave the show to pursue new acting projects and embrace change is both heartbreaking and inspiring.

Sue’s journey on the cobbles has been nothing short of remarkable, from her iconic rivalry with Gail Platt to her tumultuous marriage with serial killer Pat Phelan. Her exit storylines are sure to be unforgettable, leaving the door open for a possible return in the future.

Sue’s spirit of adventure and fearlessness is truly admirable, especially as she reaches her 60s and sees the world as her oyster. Her ability to embrace ageing and continue to strive for new opportunities is a testament to her resilience and determination.

I have been moved by Sue’s transformation over the years, both on-screen and off. Her three stone weight loss has left fans astounded, gasping that they hardly recognize her. Yet, Sue remains humble, acknowledging the impact of giving up alcohol and mindful calorie consumption on her health and appearance.

As a regular panelist on Loose Women and a star in Sister Act The Musical, I am excited to see where Sue’s journey takes her next. Her time on Coronation Street will always be cherished, but it is clear that Sue Cleaver is ready for new adventures. Here’s to many more years of fearless living and incredible achievements!

Sue Cleaver is leaving Coronation Street after 25 years on the cobbles.

The 61-year-old actress, known for portraying the renowned character Eileen Grimshaw on ITV soap, is moving on to take up fresh acting opportunities. Filming for her departure scenes has already commenced.

Producers have decided not to write off the star who frequently appears as a panelist on Loose Women from the show, implying a chance for her character to reappear at some point in the future.

As I wrap up my time on Coronation Street, I’ll continue to grace your screens through late spring. However, I’ve shared 25 enriching years of my professional journey with this beloved show, as I told the publication.

Even though the door remains wide open, when I turned 60, I chose to welcome change, seek fresh experiences, and live without fear.

Last year, I temporarily stepped away from my role on Coronation Street to bring the character of Mother Superior to life in Sister Act The Musical. Later, I embarked on an exciting adventure by participating in the 2022 season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Down Under.

According to a source, she discussed her intentions to pursue fresh acting opportunities with management following her role in Sister Act last summer. This provided the writers ample time to develop a compelling departure plotline for her, one that fans are sure to enjoy.

Kate Brooks, the latest head of the soap company, expressed that the team will miss Sue dearly as she embarks on a new journey, sending her warmest wishes for her upcoming endeavor.

TopMob have contacted representatives at ITV for comment.

In a more simplified version, you could say: Sue’s character, Eileen, has experienced quite a rollercoaster ride on the soap opera. She is particularly famous for her intense feud with another character, Gail Platt, and her marriage to the serial killer, Pat Phelan.

Previously, she discussed her journey towards accepting aging, and she confessed that since turning 60, she views life as an opportunity, much like an oyster offers possibilities.

In the November edition of Prima, she articulated: “Many individuals my age express feelings of depression about turning 60. It seems as though this marks the end of the journey, with life only going downhill from there. However, I wholeheartedly do not share this sentiment.

It seems to me that the opportunities before me are endless, and there’s such a wealth of possibilities waiting to be explored. There’s so many directions in which I could venture.

During an appearance on Lorraine in September, fans were surprised when Sue unveiled a weight loss of approximately three stones.

In March, Sue discussed her weight loss after participating in Dry January the year before.

She mentioned that she had shed approximately 13.6 kilograms (18 pounds) during the reality show “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here” in 2022. She had already lost about 10.5 kilograms (a stone and a half) throughout that year, as she decided to quit drinking alcohol. After completing Dry January, she chose to continue abstaining from alcohol.

At my current age, it hadn’t crossed my mind before that those extra glasses of red wine during dinner preparation and mealtime could be adding so many calories to my daily intake.

‘If you’re doing that four or five nights a week, that’s a lot of calories.’

Viewers were left speechless by Sue’s remarkable change and couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw her on ITV’s Lorraine, as she was almost unrecognizable!

In the show, she discussed her recently published autobiography titled A Work In Progress. Yet, it seemed that her fans were more preoccupied with her personal appearance rather than her insightful discussion.

In a conversation on X, previously known as Twitter, people commented: ‘Sue Cleaver looks fantastic… #lorraine’; ‘I can barely recognize Sue Cleaver now, she seems to have changed drastically!: ‘Wow, you’ve lost weight – keep it up!’
