‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2: Release Window, Cast, Plot, and Everything We Know

I was so excited when Daredevil finally came back! After seeing him pop up in things like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Echo, She-Hulk, and Hawkeye, it was amazing to see him and Kingpin properly back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after six years since their Netflix show ended. Daredevil: Born Again premiered on March 4th, 2025, and even though there were some big changes made during production, most of us fans were really happy to have Daredevil back!

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is set to continue the story with Wilson Fisk launching an all-out war on New York’s heroes, and Matt Murdock fighting back as Daredevil. We’ll see familiar faces return, including Jessica Jones. Currently scheduled for release on March 4, 2026, as part of Marvel Studios’ ambitious 2026 plans (though the date isn’t completely confirmed), the new season will be followed by movies like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, and Disney+ shows including Wonder Man, Vision Quest, and Season 2 of X-Men ’97. Here’s a complete guide to everything you need to know about Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2’s Release Date is Currently Uncertain

Disney

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will be connected to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of Phase 6. Currently, there’s no confirmed release date. It was initially thought to premiere on March 4, 2026, matching the original release date of Season 1 in 2025. However, Disney has since removed all mentions of that date from its official announcements, suggesting the earlier date was likely a mistake.

The delay of Avengers: Doomsday to December 2026 creates more flexibility for the release of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. It’s currently planned for release in the spring – likely between March and May. Releasing in March would mark one year since the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. March 18th, 2026, would also be the ten-year anniversary of the original Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix. Marvel might continue its pattern of releasing projects in early May, launching Daredevil: Born Again and finishing up in mid-June, which would give Spider-Man: Brand New Day – set to open in theaters on July 31st, 2026 – plenty of time before its release.

Right now, we know that Daredevil: Born Again will be released after Wonder Man premieres on Disney+ on January 27th. We’ll probably learn more about Daredevil: Born Again, including when Season 2 will come out, once Wonder Man has had its run. And don’t worry, Daredevil: Born Again won’t be the end for Daredevil – Season 3 is already planned and is expected to air in 2027. That season will likely arrive before Avengers: Secret Wars kicks off a new phase for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Confirmation & Filming

Disney+

When Marvel announced the return of Daredevil with the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again in 2022, they initially planned for a first season of 18 episodes. However, after changes to the creative team – with Dario Scardapane replacing Matt Corman and Chris Ord as showrunners – the plan shifted. The original 18 episodes were divided into two shorter seasons of nine episodes each. More recently, in February 2025, Scardapane announced that Season 2 would be even shorter, consisting of only eight episodes.

Season 2 filming started on February 28, 2025, just five days before Season 1 launched on Disney+. Production wrapped up on July 9, 2025. Showrunner Scardapne is back, along with Season 1 writers Grainne Godfree, Heather Bellson, and Jesse Wigutow. They’re joined by new writers Chantelle Wells and Omar Najam. Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moore, who worked on the revised first episode and final two episodes of Season 1, are also returning. Having previously directed episodes of Moon Knight and Season 2 of Loki, Benson and Moore will be collaborating with directors Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd for Season 2.

Anticipated Cast of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2

Netflix

Charlie Cox will be back as Daredevil (Matt Murdock), and Vincent D’Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk, also known as The Kingpin. Deborah Ann Woll will have a more significant role in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again after being brought back for some reshoots of Season 1. Even though his character died in the first episode of the new season, Elden Henson will return as Foggy Nelson. Wilson Bethel and Ayelet Zurer will also be back as Bullseye (Benjamin Poindexter) and Vanessa Fisk, respectively.

Most of the new actors who joined the cast of Daredevil: Born Again will be back for Season 2. This includes Margarita Levieva (Heather Glenn), Nikki M. James (Kirsten McDuffie), Genneya Walton (BB Urich), Michael Gandolfini (Daniel Blake), Arty Froushan (Buck Cashman), Zabryna Guevara (Sheila Rivera), Clark Johnson (Cherry), and Rubio Qian (Detective Angie Kim). Plus, Tony Dalton will return as Jack Duquesne / Swordsman, a role he first played in Hawkeye.

Matthew Lillard, known for his roles in Scream and Scooby-Doo, is joining the cast as Mr. Charles, a smaller part he’d like to revisit in future seasons. Lili Taylor, an Emmy nominee, will play Marge McCaffrey, the Governor of New York and a rival to Wilson Fisk. Sydney Parra, Annie Parisse, and James Armstrong have also been cast, though their roles haven’t been revealed yet.

The most exciting news about the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again is that Krysten Ritter will be back as Jessica Jones, a character she last played in her own show, which finished airing in June 2019. There’s also been talk that Mike Colter might return as Luke Cage, but that hasn’t been officially announced. Another familiar face from the original Daredevil series on Netflix will be Royce Johnson, returning as police sergeant Brett Mahoney.

Jon Bernthal, who previously played Frank Castle / The Punisher alongside Daredevil, won’t be part of the Daredevil: Born Again revival. Although he filmed scenes for Season 1—appearing in two episodes where his character escaped from Fisk’s prison—The Punisher’s story will now continue in a separate Marvel special. It’s currently unknown if this special will be released before or after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Bernthal is still set to return as The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will feature a new costume for Daredevil, taking inspiration from his look in the Shadowlands comics. This black suit will include a red “double D” emblem – a first for Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bullseye will also be sporting a costume more closely resembling his comic book appearance.

Krysten Ritter has shared that the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again will offer clues about what Jessica Jones has been doing over the past seven years. She’s suggested there will be some unexpected developments and has discussed the possibility of continuing Jessica Jones’ story with Marvel.
