Genshin Impact Version 5.3 Phase 1 Character and Weapon Banners: Should you go for Mavuika or Citlali
Story Highlights
- Mavuika is a Pyro DPS/Sub-DPS who uses Fighting Spirit instead of Energy, excelling in Melt/Vape teams
- Citlali is a Cryo shielder and support who provides shields, Pyro/Hydro resistance shred, and offensive buffs
- Mavuika thrives with Citlali as her Cryo enabler but Citlali can be used in many teams without Mavuika
As a seasoned gamer with thousands of hours logged into Genshin Impact, I can confidently say that the arrival of Mavuika and Citlali in Version 5.3 Phase 1 is nothing short of exhilarating!
Mavuika, this Pyro DPS powerhouse, caught my attention with her unique Fighting Spirit mechanic. Her high damage potential in optimized teams is simply mouthwatering, like a level-100 Xiangling’s QQ Chicken on a hot plate. However, the fact that she relies heavily on Natlan characters makes me wonder if I need to start hoarding those Paimon letters for some emergency character swaps.
On the other hand, Citlali, the Cryo shielder and support, is a versatile powerhouse who brings utility like a Swiss Army knife to my team. Her shields, offensive buffs, and Pyro/Hydro resistance shred make her an invaluable asset for Melt teams, and she’s as useful as a Tartaglia’s Charged Shot in a tight spot. Unlike Mavuika, Citlali doesn’t demand specific characters to shine, making her a great addition to any roster – even my poor, underleveled one.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d go for Citlali. Her flexibility and utility make her a game-changer for Melt teams, and she’s less restrictive than Mavuika. Plus, I can always use more defensive utility in my adventures across Teyvat.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go farm some resources – I hear there are new weapons on the Epitome Invocation banner that would look great in my inventory! But first, let me take a selfie with my newly acquired Citlali… because, you know, likes. #GenshinImpact #CitlaliLife
🌟 I can’t wait to dive back into the world of Teyvat! Starting from my personal favorite date, January 1st, 2025, after some scheduled maintenance, the first phase of Genshin Impact Version 5.3 will be live! This exciting update will introduce two brand-new, limited 5-Star characters in a special dual banner. Get ready to expand my team and conquer new adventures! 🌟
Mavuika is a character, specifically a Pyro Damage Per Second (DPS), who brings an exceptional ability with her Fighting Spirit. Instead of using conventional Energy, she uses this for her Burst. She’s particularly proficient at dishing out high damage in each rotation, making her an effective carry for teams that focus on a single rotation. Her true potential is showcased in well-coordinated teams that incorporate Natlan supports like Xilonen and Citlali. With these allies, she can effectively utilize Melt or Vaporize reactions to boost her already impressive damage output.
Mavuika’s heavy dependence on specific characters like Xilonen and Citlali is a potential drawback. When these characters are absent, her performance noticeably decreases because she finds it challenging to maintain a steady level of ‘Fighting Spirit’. This dependency makes it harder for her to fit seamlessly into a diverse team, although she can still function outside of ideal configurations, the results might seem less impressive.
Contrarily, Citlali serves as a versatile Cryo Shielder and supporter, offering remarkable functionality. She skillfully blends defensive features with offensive boosts, thereby proving to be a superb team facilitator. Her shield safeguards your character, while her supportive setup, such as the 40% damage reduction from Scrolls of Cinder City, 48% ATK increase from Thrilling Tales, and Pyro/Hydro reduction from her Ascension passive, render her indispensable for Melt teams.
As a long-time gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Citlali is one of the most versatile characters I’ve ever encountered in any game. Unlike some other heroes who need specific team members to truly shine, Citlali can seamlessly fit into a variety of team compositions and perform exceptionally well.
Her ability to consistently enable “Melt” teams sets her apart from many others, making her an essential asset for those strategies. Even in teams where her synergy isn’t perfect, she still provides enough buffs and defensive utility to justify her inclusion. Her versatility makes her a valuable addition to any roster, and I would highly recommend her to both new and experienced players alike.
In my own gaming journey, I’ve learned that the most powerful heroes are those who can adapt to different situations and playstyles. Citlali embodies this trait perfectly, making her an indispensable ally in the heat of battle. If you’re looking for a hero who can help you take your gameplay to the next level, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Citlali a try.

Why you should go for Mavuika or Citlali in Genshin Impact Version 5.3
If you’re a fan of high-damage Pyro DPS characters or have characters like Chilonin and other Natlan supports available, Mavuika could be an excellent choice. Her damage output can be extremely rewarding, but it’s crucial to remember that she relies heavily on her team. Without the necessary support, her performance may not meet expectations, so she is ideal for players who have strategically built their roster around her.
As a fan, I’d say if you’re looking for a character with versatility that can deliver utility across various teams, Citlali is your go-to choice. She brings the power to strengthen Melt teams, offers robust defensive utility, and supports diverse compositions, making her an invaluable asset. Unlike Mavuika, she’s not as restrictive, and her impact is significant even on accounts that may not be fully optimized.
In my opinion, I would favor Citlali more due to her versatility and usefulness. She’s an excellent fit for most teams, and she brings innovative possibilities to Melt squads. However, if you are drawn to Mavuika’s design or gameplay style, and have the resources to support her, she is certainly worth a look as well.
