Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles defends singer’s controversial halftime show amid Jay-Z drama
I’ve seen my fair share of spectacular performances over the years, but Beyoncé’s NFL Christmas halftime show has to be one of the most unforgettable ones. Growing up in Houston, Texas, I’ve always admired Beyoncé for her incredible talent and dedication to her craft. To see her grace the stage at NRG Stadium where it all began was truly awe-inspiring.
As a devoted fan, I wholeheartedly stand by Beyoncé as her mother, Tina Knowles, passionately defends her controversial Christmas Day NFL halftime performance that stirred up some discussions.
43-year-old pop sensation performed for fans in the state she hails from, Texas. In this same state, the hometown team, Houston Texans, faced off against, and ultimately lost to, the Baltimore Ravens.
As a die-hard fan, let me recount the electrifying 13-minute performance by none other than Beyoncé herself! She delivered an eight-song medley straight off her iconic Cowboy Carter album, backed by a dynamic crew of dancers, majestic horses, and even my heart pounded at the sight of Blue Ivy, her 12-year-old daughter, making a surprise appearance on stage. Simply unforgettable!
At Christmas, Beyoncé made her first public performance after Jay-Z strongly refuted claims against him, made in a recent lawsuit. This lawsuit suggested that both Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000.
During Beyoncé’s halftime performance, she received some unfavorable comments on social media, but professional critics acclaimed it as a success, praising it as ‘stunning’ and an ‘impressive’ demonstration of her newest album.
Despite focusing on dealing with internet trolls recently, Tina expressed her feelings strongly in an emotional Instagram post, dismissing those who question her daughter as being “ridiculous-looking.
Tina shared a snapshot of someone praising Beyoncé, originally posted on a social media platform.
Independent of your personal feelings about Beyoncé’s music, her success serves as evidence and inspiration that even when someone is incredibly gifted, there will always be criticism or negativity.
On Friday, Tina shared a screenshot on Instagram with the caption: “I feel exactly the same way! I find it astonishing that one would spend their cherished Christmas day watching a performance of someone they dislike and believe lacks skill, just to criticize them afterward.
She stated: “Clearly, your fascination with them is intense, bordering on obsession. You’re addicted, secretly adoring them, perhaps even yearning to be like them. This fixation has led you to observe, critique, comment, and occasionally say things that come across as foolish and unconvincing, making you appear somewhat comical!
Tina playfully suggested, “During halftime, if you’re not interested, switch to a different channel to enjoy some humorous cartoons or shows like Bozo the Clown – something that resonates with you and seems relatable.” She spoke this with affection.
She added a button to the post, writing: ‘PS I have learned so much from her warrior spirit, of when they go low I work harder “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” one ,two , three waiting for the fake bots to come”.’
In my fervor as a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but notice that Tina’s recent post didn’t even hint at Jay-Z, who had been severely chastised by a judge the previous day for supposedly misusing court resources during his legal battle with the woman alleging he and Diddy assaulted her when she was just 13.
In an effort led by his attorney, Alex Spiro, the influential music figure known as Shawn Carter has tried multiple times either to dismiss the case altogether or to compel the involved woman to make her identity public.
On Thursday, Judge Analisa Torres supported the allegations made against Spiro, allowing the accuser to remain anonymous during the following phases of the case and publicly criticizing Spiro as well.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a concerning allegation that has recently surfaced. Back in 2000, at an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City, a woman known as Jane Doe claims she was drugged and raped by Jay-Z and Diddy when she was just 13 years old. This allegation, if true, is deeply troubling and demands our attention.
Jay-Z has vehemently denied the claims, calling them baseless.
On Thursday, Judge Torres issued a five-page statement criticizing Spiro’s forceful legal tactics, characterizing them as confrontational and laden with inflammatory words and personal insults.
She claimed that Jay-Z’s lawyer was trying to expedite the legal proceedings by continually submitting requests to disclose Jane Doe’s identity and drop the lawsuit.
According to Torres, it’s unsuitable and a misuse of court resources for Carter’s attorney to persistently submit aggressive motions filled with inflammatory speech and personal attacks. These tactics are unlikely to help Carter’s case. Moreover, the Court will not expedite the legal process just because the lawyer requests it.
Despite the controversy surrounding Jay-Z, Beyoncé’s NFL half-time show received widespread praise from the critical community.
Ben Beaumont-Thomas from The Guardian gave her a rating of four stars. He praised Beyoncé, commenting that while she occasionally appears stiff or regal during live performances, she seemed more relaxed on the Renaissance world tour and continues to deliver an exciting, versatile performance here.
She saunters along the crowded stands filled with brass musicians and dancers, her wide-eyed stare, exaggerated hand gestures mimicking testimony, and lively, playful actions reminiscent of African American artists such as Little Richard and Janelle Monáe.
‘Half-time shows are always stuffed harder than the day’s turkeys, but this quickly becomes a veritable turducken of hits: a megamix that pulls in My House then Riiverdance then Sweet Honey Buckiin’ with special guest Shaboozey.’
Indeed, Ed Power from The Telegraph concurs with Beyoncé’s exceptional performance abilities, describing her Christmas Day show as “eye-popping, mind-blowing, and toe-tapping.” However, he pointed out that the performance was as “festive” as a Piña Colada on the beach.
In a different location, Lindsay Zoldadz from the New York Times pointed out that Beyoncé’s lively performance contrasted sharply with the less-than-friendly response she encountered during her exploration into country music. This observation emphasized the singer’s message that everyone was included.
She went on to say of the high-energy show: ‘The impressive production, announced at the top as Beyoncé Bowl, seemed to employ a supporting cast that rivaled a cinematic blockbuster.
‘During about 13 minutes, the stage was filled with musicians, dancers, and numerous extras all dressed in brilliant white. This multitude conveyed a message. While Beyoncé is famously known for her solo artistry and powerful solos on stage, this performance showcased a side of her that seemed particularly giving, eager to share the experience.’
According to Variety’s Steven J. Horowitz, the performer’s initial live performance of her Cowboy Carter album was a skillfully guided journey through key selections from her extensive work.
He commented: ‘It’s tough to surpass some of your most captivating acts, but time and again, Beyoncé seems to outshine herself.’
Beyond the praise from critics, even fans couldn’t help but express their admiration, flooding a platform once called Twitter with their thoughts about Beyoncé’s performance.
They wrote: ‘I’ve just witnessed a long-lasting, legendary Emmy and Grammy award-deserving show and act by artist #Beyonce – simply amazing!!’
It’s unclear to me why there are numerous posts criticizing #Beyonce’s performance. However, it appears that she enjoyed the meal and seemed delighted to be back in Texas.
I’m still in awe at how fantastic the half-time performance was… There simply isn’t another artist quite like her… She truly stands alone as the greatest female entertainer ever… She’s without a doubt one-of-a-kind.
The magical performance of ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ by Beyoncé and Blue Ivy during the NFL Christmas halftime show showcases the abundant talent that flows through their family.
To be completely transparent, I’m thrilled about residing in the vicinity of Beyoncé. No one else is quite like her, and that’s something I have to accept. She truly embodies the standard of what a music artist should be, and she’s nothing short of legendary!
As I eagerly scan the ratings for Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s sensational NFL Christmas halftime show, held right in my beloved Houston, my heart swells with pride!
In a recent press announcement on Thursday, Netflix disclosed that approximately 27 million Americans watched the performance of the well-known pop singer, aged 43, who performed a brief 15-minute set consisting of eight songs. This figure was based on data from Nielsen.
24.3 million people, on average, tuned in to watch the football match during which the Baltimore Ravens handily defeated the Houston Texans by a score of 31-2.
In contrast, Beyoncé accumulated a significantly larger sum of approximately 110.8 million dollars in 2013, when she performed at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans together with her Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
In 2016, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter earned an impressive sum of $115.5 million. This was particularly notable as she teamed up with Super Bowl 50 headliners Coldplay, in Santa Clara, California, along with featured guests Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson for the formation performance that grabbed everyone’s attention.
Compared to any other television program, Super Bowl LVIII, broadcasted on February 11, holds the record as the most-watched show in American TV history. A whopping 129.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the main act, Usher, perform a rollerskating spectacle in Paradise, NV.
32-time Grammy award recipient brought along her 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, to take on backup dancing roles, while also inviting Post Malone and Shaboozey to perform alongside her on stage.
In a bold, unconventional manner reminiscent of an NFL player’s off-field behavior, Queen Bey made a finger-gun gesture and simultaneously revealed a large “Bang” banner below her stage, a move typically considered inappropriate during an NFL game.
Later this week, the Beyoncé Special will become accessible for all Netflix users as a separate feature.
