New Prime Video Movies April 2026: Best Additions & Highlights

Like most streaming services, Prime Video updates its movie selection every month, adding new titles and removing others. Between late March and early April, they’ve added a particularly strong lineup, including many excellent films from the last two decades, now available to all subscribers.

Prime Video has recently added some fantastic titles, including an Academy Award-winning film, a massive blockbuster, a gripping new crime thriller with a talented cast, and a surprisingly funny indie comedy, among other great options. It’s a diverse collection of truly excellent movies and shows.

Crime 101 (2026)

The newest film on this list is Crime 101, an official Amazon movie. While it didn’t do well in theaters – it earned around $20 million less than it cost to make – Crime 101 is still worth checking out.

While the story itself isn’t groundbreaking – it’s similar to many other heist movies – the incredible cast makes this film truly special. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, and a host of other talented actors like Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The movie received excellent reviews, earning an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – a score higher than most heist films. The action sequences are skillfully made, and the cast’s charm really helps make the movie a success.

Eighth Grade (2018)

Bo Burnham has become one of the biggest names in stand-up comedy over the last ten years. He’s famous for his comedy specials, including Make Happy and Inside, which was created during the pandemic and received a lot of praise. Many people don’t realize he’s also worked as a filmmaker.

Between those two projects, Burnham wrote and directed the movie Eighth Grade. It’s about a teenager dealing with anxiety who uses video blogs to try and fit in before starting high school.

Most coming-of-age movies center around high school, but Eighth Grade is different, which is one reason it’s so notable. The film received a lot of positive attention for both Bo Burnham’s directing and Elsie Fisher’s excellent performance, making it a standout in recent years.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025)

For nearly three decades, audiences have enjoyed thrilling adventures with Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible films. Each movie has been more ambitious than the last, so expectations were high for this latest installment, which many believe will conclude the series.

While Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning may not be the most spectacular film in the series, it provides a satisfying ending. The movie is truly amazing, especially watching Tom Cruise perform incredibly daring and unforgettable stunts.

What really sets The Final Reckoning apart are its incredible action sequences. The scene where Hunt infiltrates a submarine is both shocking and intense, and the climactic airplane chase is pure Tom Cruise excitement. These two moments alone make the film worth seeing.

You’re Next (2011)

It’s always enjoyable when a filmmaker subverts expectations, and that’s exactly what happened with the 2011 film You’re Next. The movie begins like a typical slasher film—a family reunites at a secluded house, only to find themselves hunted by killers.

The movie starts strong with some inventive kills, making it a solid slasher film. However, it truly becomes exceptional when the story takes an unexpected twist. We learn the main character, Erin, was raised in a survivalist community, giving her the skills to defend herself – and fight back with a surprising level of intensity, even surpassing her attackers.

Erin’s strength and resourcefulness make her a standout final girl in slasher film history. You’re Next is considered one of the decade’s best horror movies and played a key role in launching director Adam Wingard’s career, eventually leading to large-scale projects like Godzilla vs. Kong.

The Menu (2022)

Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult are two of the most popular actors working in Hollywood right now. Taylor-Joy has starred in hits like The Queen’s Gambit and Dune: Part Three, and Hoult recently impressed audiences in Nosferatu and Superman.

In The Menu, two actors star in a thrilling film about a date gone wrong. They travel to a secluded island for an exclusive dining experience at a chef’s special restaurant, but as the evening unfolds, a sinister atmosphere takes over.

I was completely blown away by this movie! It’s not just entertaining, but it really makes you think about society, and it does it through really clever, dark humor. Honestly, I had no idea what was going to happen next – every scene was a surprise! The writing is fantastic, and the cast is incredible. Seeing Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult work alongside Ralph Fiennes, John Leguizamo, and Hong Chau just made the whole experience even better. The Menu is a real winner.

Weapons (2025)

Two horror films from 2025 became huge hits and are now available on Prime Video. The first, Weapons, is directed by up-and-coming horror filmmaker Zach Cregger and helped establish him as a director to watch.

After achieving success with Barbarian, the director created an even more ambitious film that won an Academy Award. The story centers around a puzzling event in a small town: one night, seventeen children mysteriously left their homes and disappeared into the woods, with no clear explanation.

Weapons is a brilliantly crafted horror film that unfolds through a cleverly non-linear narrative. It delivers truly frightening moments, outstanding acting – particularly from Academy Award winner Amy Madigan – and culminates in a spectacularly chaotic and unforgettable climax.

Titanic (1997)

As a film buff, it’s tough to think of many movies that felt as epic as Titanic. James Cameron was already a respected director, but Titanic was the film that really blew everything up – it broke all sorts of box office records and cemented his place as a blockbuster king. He’s been on a roll ever since!

The film cleverly blends a true historical event with a made-up story. As we watch Rose and Jack’s romance unfold, the sinking of the ship transforms the movie into a grand and unforgettable experience.

Titanic was a huge success at the Academy Awards, winning 11 out of 14 nominations, including the award for Best Picture. Now available on Prime Video, it’s a great time to watch this classic film – whether it’s your first time or a re-watch!

Sinners (2025)

Another horror film making waves was Sinners, which first gained attention in 2025 and continues to be a talking point in 2026. It broke records with an incredible 16 Academy Award nominations – the most ever for a film, and a particularly remarkable achievement for a horror movie.

Ryan Coogler’s film, Sinners, is a remarkable achievement. It’s a compelling vampire story that stands on its own, but it’s made truly exceptional by its heartfelt celebration of Black culture.

Ryan Coogler won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and Michael B. Jordan was recognized as Best Actor for his role in portraying the Smokestack Twins. The film received a total of four Oscar awards, and featured strong performances from a talented cast including Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku, and Miles Caton.
