Wicked confirms digital release date
As a long-time musical enthusiast who has been captivated by the magic of Broadway for decades, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming home release of “Wicked”! This enchanting tale, which has already mesmerized millions on the silver screen and shattered box office records, is now set to dance its way into our living rooms in early 2025.
Wicked is set to enter our households in early 2025, following its global success and breaking numerous box office records along the way, with earnings exceeding $570 million.
If you’re looking for a big-screen experience this Christmas, the hit musical adaptation is still playing in cinemas. However, don’t worry if you miss it during the holiday season, as it will eventually become available for home viewing, just not quite in time for that.
On Friday, January 3 at midnight (UK time), Universal is set to make the film “Wicked” available for streaming on various digital platforms, as indicated by its listing on Prime Video.
Go ahead and reserve your copy of the movie “Wicked” on Prime Video or iTunes, and you’ll have instant access to it once it becomes available for viewing.
In the United States, we haven’t set a definite digital release date for the movie Wicked yet. There’s a possibility it might come out this year, but it could also align with the UK release timing.
While waiting, if you reside in the United States, you have the option to pre-order “Wicked” on Prime Video or iTunes, allowing you to view it immediately upon its release.
Should you opt for a tangible version of “Wicked”, you may as well reserve it on DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K Ultra HD in the UK. However, the specific release date for the physical home edition is still under wraps by Universal.
It was revealed that a Steelbook in 4K format is now available, however, it was swiftly sold out on popular retailers like Amazon and HMV. Since stock may occasionally be replenished, make sure to check back if you’re interested in purchasing one.
Just recently, they revealed that the upcoming sequel to “Wicked” is going to be called “Wicked: For Good,” which is inspired by a song from the second act of the musical.
Ariana Grande shared an interesting fact with fans: from the very beginning, everyone involved in the project had known that title was the actual name. She clarified this by saying, “We tossed around various suggestions, but the script had that title on it from the start.
I’m relieved that it’s now formal, as we’ve become quite fond of it. The title fits perfectly since this project has truly transformed us in a positive way.
Wicked is out now in cinemas, and will be released digitally in the UK on January 3, 2025.
