Blake Lively claims Justin Baldoni ‘cried’ in her dressing room because she didn’t look ‘hot’ enough on set

As a woman who has spent a good portion of my life navigating the complexities of Hollywood and the film industry, I find myself deeply saddened and disheartened by this latest account of alleged misconduct on set. The stories of women like Blake Lively being subjected to unwanted comments about their bodies and being exposed to Covid-19 due to a lack of adherence to safety protocols are all too familiar.

According to Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni became visibly emotional when he first saw her during the early stages of filming “It Ends With Us.” This was claimed in a sexual harassment allegation she made against the movie’s director and co-star.

In papers obtained by The New York Times, Lively, aged 37, alleged that the ex-star of Jane The Virgin, who is now 40, invaded her trailer while she was in the nude and allowed his friends to observe her filming intimate scenes, among other actions. This behavior, according to Lively, led to a hostile work environment.

In May 2023, when the production started, Lively (who is married to actor Ryan Reynolds) had recently given birth to their fourth child just a few months prior. She claimed that Baldoni behaved inappropriately towards her, treating her primarily as a sexual object, and excessively preoccupied with her weight.

During the second day of filming, as stated in the documents, Mr. Baldoni kept everyone else waiting for extended periods while he was in Ms. Lively’s dressing room, tearfully lamenting about comments made on social media regarding her appearance. The claims suggested that these comments were disparaging towards Ms. Lively, stating she looked older and less attractive based on photos taken by paparazzi on set.

Lively stated that she attempted to comfort the director by emphasizing the need for her portrayal in the pictures, following an instance where her character was abused by a fictional spouse, to appear genuine instead of “sexy” or “lively”.

The main actress asserted that Baldoni frequently emphasized her physical attributes and repeatedly undermined her by discovering indirect methods to criticize her figure and weight.

The document asserts that Baldoni privately communicated with Lively’s personal trainer, suggesting she should shed pounds within a fortnight, supposedly because he was anxious about lifting her for a future scene, despite no such scene being written in the script.

Instead of saying “Lively claimed when she came down with strep throat, he offered to connect her with ‘an expert he had on retainer to help her with probiotics and to combat the sickness,’ as a gift,” you could also say: “Lively stated that when she fell ill with strep throat, he kindly proposed to introduce her to an expert he kept as a consultant for advice on probiotics and fighting off the illness, all as a thoughtful gesture.

Meanwhile, as she was completing the privacy documents, Lively discovered that the person labeled as an ‘expert’ was actually a professional in weight loss.

During another occasion, Lively, who was caring for her child, opted for a dress with a plunging neckline to make breastfeeding more convenient.

She asserted that the director ‘commented about how much he liked her outfit’ and later asked her to remove her coat in front of ‘the crew and multiple background actors in a packed bar.’

Lively stated that Baldoni requested her to take off her coat since he wished to observe the onesie she wore underneath, as the zipper on her coat was low enough to expose the lace of her bra.

She mentioned that he reportedly said to her, “I believe you have an attractive appearance,” which Lively stated left her feeling objectified and vulnerable.

A different lady, who had seen what took place, reportedly consoled Lively and disclosed that she too had endured instances where the director made inappropriate sexual remarks towards her.

Baldoni faced allegations for causing discomfort to a female colleague on set, as he commented that the leather trousers she wore appeared ‘attractive’ or ‘seductive.’

In a different phrase, the lawsuit stated that Baldoni declined to offer an apology when the woman objected, instead responding with, “I have the freedom to do so, as my wife is present today.

During the initial stages of the production, when another actress expressed concerns over Baldoni’s remarks towards her, he admitted to understanding her issues in a written response, promising to make necessary changes. This is stated in the lawsuit.

On June 8, 2023, the very actress herself confided in me that “out there,” we can’t engage in any conversation with Justin whatsoever.

In the lawsuit, it was alleged that Baldoni grew wary of the close bond between the two ladies, suspecting they could potentially conspire or work against him.

Alongside facing uninvited remarks regarding her physique, Lively also shared that she and her newborn child contracted COVID-19 following an outbreak on the filming location.

She asserted that Baldoni and their production partner at Wayfarer Studios, Jamey Heath, neglected to adhere to Covid safety guidelines during a set outbreak, and furthermore, she accused them of intentionally withholding this information from her.

As a diligent follower, I learned from another colleague in the production sector that our company doesn’t carry insurance coverage specifically for Covid-19 incidents.

Baldoni and his team have denied the allegations.
