Criminal Minds star Zach Gilford shows signs of recovery after severe allergic reaction
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but admire Zach Gilford’s resilience and versatility! From battling through his recent health scare to delivering captivating performances on the silver screen, he never fails to impress. His journey from Matt Saracen in Friday Night Lights to a recurring role in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders showcases his acting prowess. And let’s not forget his brief stint with Taylor Swift!
Last Friday, actor Zach Gilford of Criminal Minds: Evolution was spotted running errands in Los Angeles with his 7-year-old daughter, Zeppelin Adele Gilford, only four days following an intense allergic response he experienced.
It seems that the actor from Friday Night Lights, who will be turning 43 soon, has experienced an astonishing healing process, as the significant puffiness around his eyes appears to have disappeared.
On last Monday, Zach surprised his 72K Instagram followers with posts showing signs that seemed like angioedema, a condition where swelling could potentially obstruct airways and trigger severe anaphylaxis.
‘Sooooo yesterday was fun,’ Gilford captioned his Instastories on Tuesday.
It’s great that we finished Season 18 of Criminal Minds on December 12. I appreciate the help from the nurses, doctors, and staff at Huntington Hospital in restoring my appearance; I still have some way to go.
Thankfully, illnesses like angioedema, which the Illinois-born actor (who kept his allergy a secret) experienced, often improves within 24 hours when treated with antibiotics, antihistamines, and corticosteroids.
13 years ago, they first crossed paths on the set of the 2010 TV pilot Matadors, and this coming Sunday, Zach and Kiele Sanchez will commemorate their 13th wedding anniversary together.
In my role as a devoted fan and observer, I’m thrilled to share that at the age of 47, I’ve landed a continuing part in a captivating series. I will portray Sydney Volt, the spouse of the notorious serial killer Elias Voit, skillfully brought to life by Gilford.
Last August, the actor from The Fall of the House of Usher confided in Us Weekly that collaborating with Kiele was more challenging than anticipated.
In simpler terms, ‘The scenes are more challenging for me as I don’t feel comfortable depicting violent or distressing situations involving my wife. To be clear, these scenes are quite disturbing and unsettling, and personally, I find them difficult to portray. However, this is just my perspective; Kiele can certainly express her own feelings about it, but for me, it feels uncomfortable to enact those darker moments together.’
Zach got the chance to take charge as director for the July 18th installment of the police procedural series, ‘North Star,’ created by Jeff Davis and Erica Messer.
‘I only signed a one-year deal,’ Gilford recalled.
During contract discussions, I inquired if I could take charge of an episode. Fortunately, they agreed, which was a long-held ambition of mine. Over the years, I’ve observed closely on nearly every show I’ve been part of, and it’s not easy to get that opportunity, especially on something as limited as this with only 10 episodes.
However, they’re incredibly backing the directorial efforts of the cast. In fact, more than half of the episodes this season were helmed by the cast themselves, making it an enjoyable experience.
A graduate from Northwestern University was not only highlighted in Taylor Swift’s music video for “Ours” in 2011, but he is most likely to be recognized for portraying teenage football player Matt Saracen in the NBC series “Friday Night Lights,” which ran for five seasons from 2006 to 2011.
