Timothée Chalamet’s ping-pong movie confirms 2025 release date

As a gamer who’s seen his fair share of blockbusters and indies alike, I must admit I’m intrigued by Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming movie, “Marty Supreme.” The $70 million price tag and star-studded cast certainly pique my interest. It’s always exciting to see a film with such an expansive budget, especially when it’s being released by the critically acclaimed studio A24.

Timothée Chalamet’s ping-pong movie Marty Supreme has confirmed its 2025 release date in the US.

According to Deadline, studio A24 is planning to release its upcoming movie on Christmas Day next year, which will go head-to-head with Sydney Sweeney’s “The Housemaid” as well as a few other films. Meanwhile, both the “Avatar” and “SpongeBob SquarePants” sequels are set to hit theaters earlier, posing formidable competition.

The article mentions that the original intention for the movie was to tell the story of unconventional table tennis player Marty Reisman. However, it has evolved into a narrative resembling films like “Catch Me If You Can” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” with only a vague connection to Reisman’s real life experiences.

Additionally featuring in this movie are music maestro Tyler, the Creator, actress Gwyneth Paltrow known for her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, television personality Fran Drescher from The Nanny series, and stand-up comedian Sandra Bernhard.

With a cost of $70 million, this A24 production shares the highest budget with Dwayne Johnson’s “The Smashing Machine,” making it one of their priciest films to date.

If “Marty Supreme” maintains its scheduled release date, it will be Timothée Chalamet’s second film debut on Christmas Day in a row. His upcoming Bob Dylan biopic, titled “A Complete Stranger,” is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on December 25th this year.

Although it wasn’t released on Christmas Day last year, the movie “Wonka” came very near, premiering in America on December 15 instead.

Although it was a hit at the movie theaters, director Paul King expressed no immediate plans for a follow-up to Wonka.

He indicated that it’s an idea they’ve been pondering over. While there are several thoughts circulating, they haven’t quite formed a narrative yet, so they’re waiting to see how things unfold.
