Strictly’s Vito Coppola publicly shares love and support for Graziano Di Prima five months after the dancer was sacked over abuse allegations
As someone who has spent years observing the dance world, I find myself drawn to the enigmatic figure of Graziano Di Prima. His recent struggles have been well-documented, and yet, his resilience and determination to return to his passion are truly inspiring.
As a devoted admirer, I openly expressed my affection and backing for Graziano Di Prima, five months following his termination due to accusations of misconduct.
In July, Graziano was dismissed from the BBC show due to allegations that he physically assaulted his ex-partner Zara McDermott, who is 27 years old, during rehearsals the previous year, as reported.
Lately, he’s been reappearing in the public sphere after a while away from it, most notably by playing a role in the recent Netflix movie titled “A Paris Christmas Waltz”. This film also features Matthew Morrison, Jen Lilley, Jade Ewen, and Paul Freeman.
Although other Strictly professionals have yet to comment on the accusations, on Friday, Vito openly expressed his solidarity by posting a picture of them enjoying coffee together.
In their Instagram Story, a group of Italian dancers are captured smiling for the camera. Accompanying this scene, Vito wrote: “My dear friend, I have affection for you,” which translates to “amico mio ti voglio bene”.
Graziano fled the UK when the abuse scandal broke to his native Italy with his wife – who is a professional dancer on the Italian version of the series.
Recently, he made his initial visit back after departing, as he was seen entering a dance studio in London for a dance lesson.
Previously dismissed Strictly Come Dancing professional has now spoken up, hinting at a possible reemergence into the public eye.
Graziano expressed his excitement about returning to the stage via social media, sharing a dramatic video of himself strolling across a bridge under the cover of darkness, followed shortly by Giada joining him in the clip.
Accompanying the video, Graziano penned: “Dancing has always held a central role in my life, it’s my deepest enthusiasm, the direction I’ve pursued after investing numerous years of learning, hardship, and affection.
Following some thoughtful contemplation, I find myself more determined than before, ready to re-embrace my passion for dance with renewed fervor.
‘I’m eagerly looking forward to the upcoming chapters, brimming with fresh opportunities for aspirations and obstacles, where I plan to press on with renewed vigor and motivation.’
To his fans, Graziano expressed gratitude: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all those who are always by my side. I’m excited to dance once more with the same passion and commitment as ever.
Looking forward to connecting with you either on stage or via upcoming ventures that I can’t wait to unveil for your enjoyment.
As reported by The Sun, Graziano is seeking legal action against the BBC, hiring prominent lawyers to help him defend his reputation and prove his innocence.
Lawyers at Whitestone Chambers have “previously examined numerous texts and WhatsApp conversations,” and they think the individual “may have grounds to file a lawsuit for wrongful termination” in an easier-to-understand paraphrase.
As a lifestyle expert, I can share that Graziano expresses a sense of injustice, as he believes he was not granted a fair chance to present his perspective. He’s taken comfort in learning that our legal team considers there may be grounds for an unfair dismissal claim.
They noted: ‘They have examined his BBC agreement and think they could take legal action. He is considering his choices, yet remains optimistic that he can prove his innocence.’
Last year, the production team had expressed worries about Graziano’s behavior, yet all that higher-ups did was discreetly reprimand him.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my frustration over the situation. It’s been rumored that the group had anticipated his immediate dismissal, given the allegations against him. Yet, to my dismay, it seems their concerns fell on deaf ears, allowing the abusive behavior towards Zara to persist. Even more shocking is the news that Graziano has been contracted for the 2024 season of Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t help but feel outraged at this decision, as it feels like justice is being ignored in favor of ratings and popularity.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my excitement when justice finally prevailed. It wasn’t until nine months later, when they managed to obtain a video seemingly depicting Graziano striking Zara, that the staff decided to take action. And what action it was! The very man who had been in their good books was given his marching orders. A fan moment I’ll never forget!
Graziano later confirmed and regretted his actions against Zara.
“Reflecting on my departure from Strictly, I am truly disheartened by the circumstances that unfolded. It was an experience filled with joy and learning, but ultimately, regrettably, it ended in a way that I deeply wish hadn’t happened.
‘My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.’
As an ardent admirer, I feel compelled to abide by the BBC’s personnel procedures, even if it means parting ways temporarily. The show is too dear to me, and I believe this step is necessary for its continued success. Unfortunately, my input was not sought for the online news stories, a situation that leaves me disappointed. However, I understand the delicacy of the circumstances and will respect the sensitivity required.
“I have additional details about this situation that can’t be shared now, but I stand firmly with my loved ones. I wholeheartedly hope that the Strictly team experiences continued triumphs in the future.
In 2018, Graziano became a part of Strictly, and last year he danced with a previous Love Island celebrity as his partner. However, they were ousted in week six.
Previously, he teamed up with presenter Vick Hope, popular Loose Women personality Judi Love, and in the year 2022, he made it to the quarter-finals alongside actress Kym Marsh.
