Wayne’s a no-show! Plymouth Argyle manager misses out on festive trip to Lapland with wife Coleen Rooney and two youngest sons Kit, eight, and Cass, six, after their fleeting reunion
As an ardent fan of the Rooney family, I can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness for Wayne missing out on the magical Lapland trip with his wife and kids. Having followed their journey since the early days, it feels like peeking into the lives of old friends, and I can only imagine the joy that festive trips like these bring to them.
As a die-hard Rooney fan, I was gutted when I heard that my hero, Wayne, had to miss the family’s Christmas jaunt to Lapland due to football commitments. It would have been amazing to see him frolicking with his wife, Coleen, and their little boys!
36-year-old WAG took Kit, who is eight, and Cass, aged six, for a fun day trip in Berkshire, following their journey to Australia where she competed on I’m A Celebrity.
However, husband Wayne, aged 39, wasn’t able to join the trip following their meeting in Manchester, because he is struggling to maintain his position as manager of Plymouth Argyle.
Delighted to see them again, Coleen posted a picture on Instagram of her sons meeting Santa, along with her cousin Claire, her friend and their kids, last Friday.
Collen titled her post: “A truly enchanting day spent at @laplanduk. We’re grateful for the experience and can’t wait to visit Lapland UK in Manchester next year.
Lapland UK, located in Ascot, Berkshire, is the largest seasonal event of its type in Europe, attracting high-profile personalities such as the Beckham family and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about the highly coveted festive grotto in Britain that commands a premium price. Last March, over 100,000 individuals lined up virtually, eager to secure tickets priced as high as £190 each.
While Colleen was adjusting to life at home, Wayne found himself far away, battling to hold onto his coaching position at Plymouth Argyle, a team reportedly paying him around £500,000 annually.
Although there are whispers that Wayne’s position might be under threat from Plymouth, he remains unfazed by the possibility of dismissal and instead is concentrating on bolstering the team during the January transfer window.
The team have fallen to second-bottom in the table after a run of only one win in 10 matches.
The disappointing outcome has significantly increased the stress on the ex-Manchester United and England player, who assumed leadership at Home Park this past summer.
On Monday, the couple savored a joyful evening out together, having been happily reconnected since she returned from her time on I’m A Celebrity.
The couple spent some son-free time while they shopped for holiday gifts, with Colleen labeling a photo she took (by Wayne) at the Manchester Christmas Markets.
On Monday, five days following her arrival back in the UK from Australia, where she was on I’m A Celebrity for a month, Wayne made it back to their home in Cheshire at last.
On December 11, the football manager did not show up at Manchester Airport to welcome his wife and their two youngest sons, Kit and Cass, as they arrived.
After returning home from her triumphant run on the challenging ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity, the star finally shared her thoughts on the experience.
In a video message, Colleen acknowledged her runner-up position and expressed gratitude towards her fans for their votes and backing, which played a significant role in helping her reach the final.
As a devoted enthusiast, I find myself needing to acclimate myself more to regularly sharing videos on my platform, subtly suggesting that there will likely be more of my presence online in the time ahead.
She expressed: “My children are at school, and I felt compelled to drop by and express my awe. I am absolutely floored by the immense love, backing, kindness, and optimism you’ve all exhibited during my time in the jungle and since my return.
‘Don’t get me wrong, it was hard. It was really hard. But with your love and support and the love and support of my 11 campmates love and support and friendship, you all got me through it and I am so grateful for that.’
