David Murphey, ’90 Day Fiancé’ personality, dies at 66 after years of ‘health issues’

The recent passing of David Murphey, the software engineer turned reality star from TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé” franchise, is one such tale that resonates profoundly.

Murphey died at his Nevada home Dec. 11 after “experiencing health issues over the last several years” of his life, his family announced Wednesday in a statement posted to Instagram and Facebook. He was 66.
“He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and fans,” his loved ones said.
In Season 4 of the show “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days,” Murphy made an appearance, documenting his romance with Lana from Ukraine. When this season premiered in 2020, Murphy was getting ready for retirement and planning a nomadic lifestyle.
He was eagerly looking forward to embarking on a new lifestyle, residing permanently in an RV, and desired to experience it with another person,” he expressed earlier.

Before his fame on “90 Day Fiancé”, Murphy established a relationship with Lana, whom he initially met online. Over time, they tried to meet face-to-face but eventually reconnected in Ukraine, embarking on a journey towards shared life that would later become complex. As the series unfolded, it was revealed that Lana, who was 28 at the time, didn’t feel an exclusive connection with Murphy and had been communicating with other men. However, despite this revelation, Murphy proposed to Lana in the season finale.
He stated in an interview following the proposal that he now has his woman; she belongs to him. Essentially, he’s saying he has found his better half and achieved what he set out to do.
Despite the engagement, the couple’s story didn’t end in a lifetime of bliss. In 2022, during a guest spot on “90 Day Diaries,” Murphy revealed that his relationship with Lana had ended.
Over the subsequent years, Murphey shifted his attention to exploring different parts of the country, documenting his journeys on Instagram for his followers. In the year 2022, he shared with his social media audience that he had been hospitalized, revealing various health complications such as lung blood clots and blockages in both his liver and pancreas.

In simpler terms, Murphy posted a video on 2023 where he informed his followers that he’s still dealing with health issues similar to those he faced during his hospitalization. He explained that his liver isn’t functioning properly and doctors are struggling to diagnose the cause.
He’s been quite unwell and had to back out of numerous plans. Furthermore, he mentioned this. During a live stream on Instagram, Murphy openly stated that he “didn’t experience any sadness” about his former girlfriend and chose to move away from his time on the show.
Before passing away, Murphy stepped down from the Clark County Treasurer’s Office according to his family. Prior to this, he had worked at H&R Block and gaming company IGT. Apart from his professional life and fame on “90 Day Fiancé”, Murphy was recognized for his deep affection towards cats, as his family described it as fierce.
