January 6 WWE Raw on Netflix debut shaping up to be a huge card
As a lifelong wrestling fan who’s seen more smackdowns than I can count (and let me tell you, that’s quite a lot), I am beyond excited about WWE’s upcoming debut on Netflix! It feels like we’ve been waiting for this moment since the days of Hulk Hogan and Macho Man.
In about three weeks, WWE will make its grand premiere on Netflix, a significant shift from airing Monday Night Raw on USA Network. This move could potentially rank among the most impactful business decisions in professional wrestling history. WWE is indeed treating this event with great importance, planning several big matches, including two major announcements in recent times. January 6 could very well become a must-see spectacle on Monday Night Raw, akin to a Pay-Per-View level showcase.
Currently, Solo Sikoa and Roman Reigns are set to clash in a one-on-one contest to determine who truly embodies the role of Tribal Chief. Meanwhile, Seth Rollins and CM Punk will engage in their own single combat, as these two have been locked in a heated rivalry lately. You might wonder why these matches matter? Well, it’s significant because Roman Reigns last appeared in a singles match on WWE television during his title defense against Matt Riddle on June 17, 2022. As for CM Punk, his last solo performance was on WWE TV back on January 20, 2014, making these upcoming matches quite the spectacle on this new platform.
More exciting matches are likely to be included in the lineup. It would be great if WWE could arrange for Chelsea Green to become the new WWE Women’s United States Champion, or schedule the finals of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship for the same event. Since Rhea Ripley has been announced as Liv Morgan’s top challenger, fighting for the WWE Women’s World Championship on that night would also be fitting.
It’s being whispered more and more that Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair might make their comeback shortly. If either, or even better, both of these talented ladies appear on the January 6th edition of Monday Night Raw, it would be a massive boost!
