Amanda Holden breaks down in tears as she listens to emotional messages for little boy, 9, fighting cancer during Heart Radio show
As a lifestyle expert with a heart for empathy and understanding, I can’t help but feel deeply moved by the story of young Harry and his brave battle against cancer. Having had my own brushes with illness in my family, I know all too well the power of love, support, and community during challenging times. The messages from Harry’s friends and teachers are a testament to the incredible impact we can have on one another’s lives, even in the face of adversity.
On the Heart show aired on Wednesday, Amanda Holden found herself moved to tears when she listened to heartfelt messages sent in about their guest Harry, who is currently fighting cancer.
During their broadcast, radio host Amanda (age 53) found it difficult to contain her emotions when she and her fellow presenter Jason King aired snippets from close friends and relatives of Harry.
During their broadcast yesterday, Amanda and JK discussed a young man and shared that a brain tumor was discovered at the back of his skull that very same year.
Harry, aged nine, has been battling cancer for the past year, and recently, the disease progressed towards his spinal cord, at which point he underwent chemotherapy treatment.
During Wednesday’s show, Amanda and JK played messages of support from his friends and teachers.
One teacher labeled him as an “outstanding standout,” but his friend reacted with astonishment when they heard the news, questioning, “Why did this unfortunate event have to befall him?
It’s not common for brain tumors to occur, but unfortunately, it seems like it’s happening to him. Harry, I’m eagerly looking forward to our game together soon.
Amanda, JK, Harry and his mum were left crying after hearing the sweet messages of support.
I was astonished, for everyone in the studio seemed moved to tears – such a fortunate fellow indeed, surrounded by such remarkable friends and mentors.
JK commented: “It’s really heartwarming to notice your thoughtful reply amidst everyone greeting with a simple ‘Hello’, and you returned a smile.
‘And [I’m] also a bit emotional because you love them so much and they love you, they really do.’
It’s clear that Amanda and JK were reminiscing about their personal encounters with cancer, following the recent diagnosis of their fellow host, Jamie Theakston, who was confirmed to have stage 1 throat cancer earlier this year.
JK is filling in for Jamie during his treatment, and he previously sent a defiant message to fans.
On Tuesday, the radio host, aged 53, posted a health update for his followers on Instagram, following earlier disclosures that he had arranged a doctor’s visit due to concerns raised by listeners about some irregularities in his voice.
Laryngeal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the larynx (voice box).
Jamie mentioned: “Hello everyone, just wanted to let you all know that I’ve recently undergone surgery to take out a growth on my vocal cords.
Upon receiving the results, I’ve been informed that this is a Stage 1 Laryngeal cancer. While it’s undeniable that I have cancer, I am determined to assert that cancer does not define or control me!
‘The prognosis is very positive and I’m hoping to be back with you in October.
For now, I have been advised to take a break from speaking and let JK and Amanda handle things largely on their own.
‘Huge thanks to them and all the Global family who have been unbelievably supportive.
‘Be thankful for this day, and when I see you next, I’ll have a great story to tell.’
