G2 reportedly palms off Falcons interest in m0NESY

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the news about m0NESY staying with G2 for at least half of 2025 is music to my ears. The man’s AWP skills are nothing short of legendary, and it’s always a treat to watch him in action.

m0NESY will likely stay on G2 at least for the first half of 2025.

It’s highly probable that CS2 star player m0NESY, who is renowned as an AWPer from Russia, will join G2’s roster for the upcoming year, at minimum, during the initial semester.

Reports indicate that the Falcons have proposed a deal to acquire m0NESY, allowing him to team up with his current partner Nikola “NiKo” Kovač in their new lineup. However, G2 Esports is reluctant to part ways with the player, despite m0NESY considering the offer from the Falcons.

The details provided here stem from a combined report by HLTV.org and CS2 insider Guillaume “neL” Rathier, which aligns with what G2’s CEO, Alban “Stilgar” Dechelotte, stated in October. In his statement, the CEO announced that NiKo would be leaving at the end of the year, but expressed a desire to retain m0NESY as he is considered the core of the project.

Additionally, HLTV and neL’s report corroborates the statement made by G2’s coach, Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas, following their elimination in the Shanghai Major semifinals this month. In an interview with HLTV.org, TaZ suggested that only one member of G2 would be leaving, possibly referring to NiKo.

Should G2 retain m0nESY, all they need for 2025 is a new anchor

In a conversation held in October, the CEO of G2, Stilgar, disclosed their strategy for 2025: they intend to assign Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa to the position previously held by NiKo.

In 2024, MalbsMd demonstrated through his work that it would be more beneficial for him to play leading roles instead of anchoring a bombsite, as was the case in G2 due to role conflict with NiKo. Consequently, G2 might have to bring on a new anchor player.

However, there are not a lot of anchors currently looking for a new team. The only proven CS2 anchor who is in free agency is Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy.

The winner of The PGL Stockholm Major 2021 is currently sidelined on Cloud9’s team roster since April, expressing a desire to get back into competition. However, besides Perfecto, none of the other key players like Keith “NAF” Markovic, Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo, and Justin “jks” Savage are currently available as free agents.
