Patch Preview: Maze of Darkness

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Seasun is aiming to regain its lost glory with this latest update. The introduction of Bubu – The Geomancer seems promising, offering a refreshing take on character design and gameplay mechanics. However, I do have reservations about her reliance on S-Energy for both healing and damage boosts, which could potentially lead to the infamous “Agave treatment”. Fingers crossed that she performs well and brings a breath of fresh air to the ballistic damage scene.

Following the challenging occurrences of Sands of Secrets, it seems likely that Seasun aims to bounce back and finish the year robustly. What strategies are they employing to achieve this? Let’s explore and discover their upcoming plans.

New Operative: Bubu – The Geomancer

If a character ever emerged who could potentially rejuvenate Seasun’s character design team, I believe this one might just do the trick. Her gameplay mechanics seem to steer clear of the repetitive pattern of amassing resources for dealing high burst damage, which has become quite common in most contemporary DPS characters. Instead, she appears to be geared towards sustained damage output.

Currently, I have reservations regarding her receiving the Agave treatment and not having the ability to passively regenerate S-Energy while relying on it to enhance her damage output. However, if she can excel under these conditions, it would be a significant triumph for fans of ballistic damage, following the somewhat underwhelming experience with Fritia – Turbo.

Reruns

Eatchel – The Cub

Patch Preview: Maze of Darkness

Initially having a tough debut, Eatchel’s value has been steadily climbing since then. Gamers seeking a potent ATK booster might find it beneficial to acquire both her and her unique weapon, Blitzing Fangs. Moreover, rest assured, she remains an effective healer.

Katya – Dawnwing

…Back so soon?

Following a single update, Katya resumes her mission to empty your Digicash account, boosting her damage stats in the process. She’s been gradually seizing control of Neural Sim, setting quick times and even establishing several world records. However, be aware that this operation requires a substantial financial investment.

Event Game Modes

In this latest release, the major highlight is an exciting new event called “Supreme Battleground”. It’s reminiscent of a Neural Simulation experience. I’m eagerly awaiting it, let’s hope it lives up to expectations. For more information on this event, check it out here.

For additional events, it appears Seasun has altered their event approach yet again, opting for a staggered rollout of fresh game modes over several days. It remains to be seen how effective this method will be. The dual cooperative mode combination of Endless Battle and Containment Protocol returns as a key feature, along with it. As usual, Hero Games takes center stage in the latter part of the update, while Seven-Day Carnival reappears, offering new minigames such as a thrilling third-person Zuma spinoff that seems more enjoyable than it should be.

Skins

In my opinion, the star of this event’s outfit offerings is Cherno – Enigma’s Dual Tranquility, which also has a weapon skin available. This is also the case for the other premium skin this update, Eatchel – The Cub’s Prowl and Pounce.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but excitedly express that my favorite character, Dawnwing, has secured the battlepass outfit slot! The design is inspired by an unforgettable moment from Snowbreak’s first anniversary livestream – it’s like reliving that infamous segment all over again.

In this update, there’s no new character model for Bubu since it seems that Seasun had to prioritize the extensive rework of version 2.3, which left them insufficient time to create a new skin. Perhaps we’ll see something new in the next update.

Maintenance

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Seasun has finally nailed down a consistent maintenance schedule after some tweaks in the past patches. Mark your calendars for December 19 at 9:50AM (UTC+8). To make things even sweeter, the usual maintenance rewards are still on the table – 420 Digicash, 25,000 Silverbucks, and a 60AP stamina refill. So, get ready to log in after the maintenance is complete! (Don’t forget to convert the UTC+8 time to your respective time zone.)

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that Lyfe, Eatchel, and Nita are about to get new voice actors for their CN characters – one of the final updates of this kind! Additionally, there are enhancements being made to optimize the controller support, making the gaming experience even better.

In the upcoming version 2.5, a new feature for a logistics reroll pity system is being introduced, allowing players to select a specific fundamental stat (which seems to be the translation for the first two stats in Seasun-ese) after accumulating enough rerolls using the forthcoming logistics stat rerolling mechanism. Reroll attempts made prior to this update will contribute towards it, so there’s no excuse not to strive for the ideal stats on your logistics equipment.

That’s it for here. Remember not to eat weird mushrooms you see in the wild.
