How to watch 28 Days Later now it’s finally on digital platforms
As a seasoned gamer with decades of survival horror experiences under my belt, I can confidently say that the return of “28 Days Later” to digital platforms is a welcome respite for those who have been left in isolation since its disappearance. The post-apocalyptic world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland has always been a haunting reminder of what could happen when humanity loses control, and the suspenseful chase scenes never fail to get my heart racing.
After a hiatus of several years, the movie “28 Days Later” is once again accessible for home viewing, except for those who had previously owned a physical copy.
Due to a rights dispute arising from Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Danny Boyle’s critically acclaimed horror film, originally released as “28 Days Later” by Fox Searchlight Pictures in 2002, is currently unobtainable for digital purchase or rental, or even a DVD copy.
As a fan, it’s disappointing that I can’t find the original “28 Days Later” anywhere except for buying a used DVD or Blu-ray copy, while its sequel, “28 Weeks Later,” is readily available to stream on Disney+ and purchase digitally.
However, things have taken a turn as Andrew MacDonald reacquired the rights recently and subsequently sold them to Sony, who are set to unveil the long-anticipated film titled “28 Years Later” in the year 2025.
So if you want to rewatch 28 Days Later, here’s how you can watch the movie right now.
In the UK, you can now purchase or rent “28 Days Later” on platforms like Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and various other digital stores, as Sony made it available starting from December 18.
In the US, you can buy or rent 28 Days Later from Prime Video, iTunes and more.
Despite being digitally released, it appears that “28 Days Later” isn’t currently streamable on any platform right now. However, there might be a streaming availability soon as well.
In the United States, you’d typically find Sony movies streaming on Netflix, whereas in the UK, they usually appear on Sky Cinema for release. It’s only a guess, but if the movie “28 Days Later” streams anywhere, potential options might include these services.
To clarify, the film titled “28 Weeks Later” can be streamed in the United Kingdom on Disney+, whereas in the United States, it’s accessible on both Hulu and Paramount+.
28 years after its initial release, the movie will hit theaters on June 20, 2025. The debut trailer for this upcoming film has broken records this year as the most-viewed horror trailer launch, amassing an impressive 60.2 million views globally.
In the UK, you can now purchase or rent “28 Days Later” on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and several other platforms.
