Romesh Ranganathan lands ‘another huge new show’ following triumphant year on the small screen
As a seasoned observer of the entertainment industry, it’s evident that the life of this multi-talented individual is as vibrant and dynamic as his career. From the heights of success on The Weakest Link to the intimate confessions about his marriage struggles, there’s no denying the captivating journey of this man who has made us laugh for years.
Romesh Ranganathan has landed another huge show following a stellar year on TV.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! The legendary comedian from the UK, age 46, is gearing up to tickle our funny bones in an entirely fresh Sky travel series titled “Can’t Knock the Hustle.” In this captivating adventure, he’ll be traversing the globe, and I can hardly wait to join him on his journey!
The travelogue is designed to take him on a journey where he examines the harmony between work and personal life among diverse populations and cultures across today’s global landscape.
The four-part series is set to broadcast on Sky Max and NOW the following year, and it will include clips from Romesh’s first arena tour known as Hustle.
Speaking to The Sun, Romesh said: ‘Stand ups often deliver a show completely unchecked by logic.
We chose to produce a series examining the points I made during my speech, questioning their accuracy. This program supports the idea that I may not always be well-informed in my discussions.
In this documentary series, Ramesh embarks on a journey that takes him from India, across the US, and up to Canada, challenging and disproving certain ideas he had originally presented in his comedy acts.
As a lifestyle expert, I often delve into the world of entertainment, and let me tell you, the talk-show of our beloved comedian is indeed a fact-checked gem, meticulously crafted by none other than his own production house, Ranga Bee.
This year, the presenter definitely shone, gracing various television shows such as ITV’s Parents’ Evening, which showcased his mother.
Apart from that, he had a guest appearance on “The Weakest Link” on BBC One, and more recently, he completed the last season of “The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan” which aired on BBC Two.
It adds up to his works on BBC comedy Avoidance and Sky comedy Romantic Comedy while a the seventh series Rob and Romesh Vs is out – where he reunites with his old chum Rob Beckett, whom he hosts the TV Baftas with.
Ultimately, the beloved British comedian, who swiftly gained the affection of the nation, has been announced as the host for sports panel show “A League of Their Own”, airing on Sky from January 9.
And just earlier last month, Ramesh’ latest show Parents Evening was criticised just moments after landing on ITV’s screens with its first episode.
In this show, we saw a variety of well-known personalities such as Alison Hammond along with her son Aidan, Carol Vorderman accompanied by her son Cameron, and Iain Stirling joined by his mother Alison.
The pairs within a family had to estimate the number of questions their counterpart could get right, providing audiences with glimpses into the unique dynamics between famous parents and children.
However, Romesh’s project faced criticism soon after its launch, as fans pointed out the swift vanishing of questions from the screen.
Some viewers expressed frustration that they couldn’t participate in the game at home and felt overwhelmed by the excessive amount of screen time dedicated to the contestants’ faces, voicing concerns about X.
‘#ParentsEvening keep the questions on screen!’;
“Could we have three episodes with fewer scene transitions? In each episode, let’s keep Romesh and the contestants’ faces visible in small frames at the bottom of the screen. This would allow the questions to remain on-screen longer without frequent cuts away from the main question options. Perhaps, this could be a change for series 2?
At Parents’ Evening quiz events, viewers typically try to guess the answers. However, in this instance, the questions appeared too quickly for us to attempt a response.
‘Obligatory new game show tweet – I’m liking #ParentsEvening. Yeah, the questions should stay on screen somehow and it’s annoying that they don’t – but they can fix that. I like the format and it all works otherwise. So far, so good…’;
Apart from that, the ITV program faced criticism in public, with viewers expressing concerns over Alison Hammond’s blunt remarks towards Aiden, her son.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment when Alison appears to doubt her own children’s wisdom. While some folks at home were quick to criticize the broadcaster, I found myself rolling with laughter at the irony, left in fits of hysterics.
Alison Hammond, cut Aidan some slack, he’s not doing so great”: This paraphrase maintains the original message but uses a friendlier and less colloquial tone.
Her hilarious interaction with her son leaves me in stitches: ‘What a riot Alison Hammond is as she reveals he doesn’t know the answers.’ or ‘She’s absolutely hilarious, watching Alison Hammond with her son shows their strong bond’: ‘Alison Hammond sure knows how to keep us entertained’.
Alison shares Aidan with ex husband Noureddine Boufaied.
Currently, Romesh has shared insights on how his dedication to his comedy career nearly caused strain in his marriage.
46-year-old host of The Weakest Link, revealed that he and his spouse, Leesa, put effort into rekindling their love.
He explained that his marriage suffered because he poured all his energy into his career, leaving very little time for his wife and three children.
He admitted, while talking with Gabby Logan on her podcast The Mid-Point, that he had a tendency to conform to the “not delivering much” cliché. He’d often find himself rushed due to work or tours, leaving him too exhausted to engage in lengthy conversations.
Upon returning, I wouldn’t be my best self. My conversation would falter, and I’d end up sitting dejectedly on the couch.
You might express your fatigue, but it seems like some extra effort could be given, as it appears that responsibility has been overlooked a bit. He let out a sigh: ‘It’s just that you tend to get preoccupied with things. It’s important to acknowledge the person who is taking on more at home.’
For quite some time now, our interactions have been primarily limited to discussing practical matters, such as “What’s the plan for the kids tomorrow?” These have essentially made up the entirety of our discussions over the past few months, if not more than a year.
‘This is what happened to Leesa and I. We stopped investing in our relationship.’
