In reflecting upon Kristin Cavallari‘s life journey, I find myself awestruck by her resilience and adaptability. From reality television stardom to entrepreneurship and now podcasting, she has proven time and again that she is not one to be pigeonholed. The burglary incident, though undoubtedly terrifying, seems to have only strengthened her resolve, as evidenced by her forthright approach in sharing her story on her podcast.

During their three-week quarantine at a secluded resort in the Bahamas from March to April 2020, amidst the global lockdown due to the coronavirus, Kristin Cavallari and her then-husband Jay Cutler, along with their three children and two friends, had an unexpected encounter. An intruder was discovered moving across the floor of Kristin’s bedroom.

On the very same day, the 37-year-old host of the Let’s Be Honest podcast asked a maintenance worker to mend a faulty air conditioning system, as she arranged her Uncommon James brand jewelry on a closet countertop.

On her podcast’s latest episode, Kristin reminisced about having her oldest son, Cameron, sharing the bed with her during sleep, as she put it on Tuesday.

And as I awoke, there was a man creeping across my bedroom floor towards the wardrobe, intending to retrieve some jewelry from Uncommon James.

Cavallari’s first instinct was to yell, ‘What the f*** are you doing?!’

In astonishment, I spoke plainly, and this individual immediately rose, dashed out, and it turned out he was wearing a ski mask, completely black attire from head to toe,” exclaimed the founder of Uncommon James.

Instead, let me recap: “I exclaimed, ‘Oh, dear me!’ That wasn’t Jay; it was someone else, though I didn’t recognize them. Since Camden was with me, I chose not to shout or scream. In such situations, you might think you would react differently, but your reflexes take over. Truthfully, it felt like a Mission Impossible scenario.

At 1am, Kristin found herself asleep in a different room from the 41-year-old owner of Gratis Beer, with whom she had been unable to reach via text message.

‘F***, I have to go out into the house by myself and leave my son here in bed,’ Cavallari recalled.

‘Jay was in the upper level with our little ones, Jackson and Saylor…I awoke Jay, and upon waking him, I suddenly became extremely anxious. Then, I felt an overwhelming fear creeping up on me. I began to tremble, and it wasn’t until that moment that I truly realized what had transpired. Prior to that, I remained calm. It was purely instinct that propelled me.’

Initially, the person performing routine HVAC maintenance turned out to be an intruder and stole all our money that was kept in a backpack. However, fortunately, we managed to retrieve the stolen money later on.

‘My kids still do not know [this] to this day,’ the Truly Simple cookbook author stated.

Among the most terrifying experiences I’ve encountered, this ranks high. I’m inclined not to disclose it to them until they reach adulthood, simply because I believe certain facts are better left unknown for children.

On April 7, 2020, Kristin and Jay made their way back to Nashville, and exactly 19 days afterward, they publicly declared that they were legally parting ways after seven years of wedlock. However, their divorce wasn’t officially completed until 2022.

During the period leading up to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Cavallari is in charge of their children – Camden, age 12, Jaxon, age 10, and Saylor, age 9. However, from Christmas afternoon until January 2nd, custody passes on to Cutler.
