‘Bluey: The Movie’ gets official release, creator teases big announcement
As a devoted fan who has watched countless episodes of Bluey with my own little blue heelers (my pets) by my side, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the announcement of Bluey: The Movie! This is like the main course after years of delicious appetizers – it’s been a long time coming, and it’s finally here!
Fans of Bluey from all over the globe are ecstatically excited as it was officially confirmed that a Bluey movie titled “Bluey: The Movie” will be released in 2027. This little blue heeler, who has charmed audiences worldwide and made a significant impact on Disney+, is now set to make his debut on the big screen. However, the question remains – what might this new venture hold for our beloved animated canine character?
Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, Chili, and their lively animated crew have been captivating and amusing both kids and adults since they made their screen debut. With just a touch of Disney enchantment, the Australian-made animation series has earned global recognition. It was only a matter of inevitability before we got a full-length movie.
Bluey on the Big Screen
This morning, a delightful surprise was shared on the show’s TikTok account (located here), revealing the definitive title for the upcoming project. On the show’s official blog, Ludo made an exciting announcement that has left fans of all ages eagerly anticipating the next developments.
Per The Bluey Blog,
Here’s a possible way of paraphrasing the given text in first-person perspective as a gamer:
Joe Brumm, the creator of Bluey, also expressed his thoughts on the significant revelation, mentioning that the extended version of the “The Sign” episode left a lasting impact on him. On his blog, Brumm posted this insight:
I thoroughly appreciated delving deeper into the longer format for ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, and now expanding it into a full-length feature film seems like a logical progression. I’ve long believed that ‘Bluey’ would shine in the context of a theatrical movie. My aim is to create an immersive cinematic experience that families can enjoy together. I look forward to collaborating once more with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and the BBC Studios team, as well as Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, and Disney, in bringing this fresh ‘Bluey’ tale to life on the big screen.
Expressing it in a more casual and understandable manner: This is a massive deal for the cherished series, and it’s something fans have been guessing about for years. They thought this might be where Ludo was headed all along. But now, the big question on everyone’s mind is: what happens next?
We won’t get to watch the movie until 2027, and plenty can transpire during those three years. Additionally, it was revealed in the official announcement that Bluey and her clan will undergo a CGI transformation by Amber Naismith from The Lego Movie. This implies that the Heelers are due for a significant change soon.
Furthermore, Brumm indicated in a different statement his decision to step away from the show to concentrate more on cinema-related projects. Sharing this news in a letter addressed to the audience, Brumm wrote as follows:
As a devoted fan, I’ve consistently shared that I wouldn’t continue producing the series if I couldn’t deliver seasons that match or surpass the quality of the previous ones. Contemplating a potential Season 4, I found myself in such a predicament. Consequently, I’ve opted to step back from my role in the television series for now. However, should I struggle to envision more seasons on my own, “The Sign” will serve as the concluding episode of Bluey’s TV journey – one that I penned with this in mind… To clarify, this is not a declaration of the show’s end, but rather an expression of my intent to channel my efforts into the film project.
As I pen this, Bluey continues to air more than 150 episodes and mini-episodes, along with a strong impact on pop culture that seems unwavering. Although some fans eagerly await a fourth season prior to the movie’s release, significant transformations are taking place for our beloved canine protagonist.
All of Bluey’s adventures are ready and available for streaming on Disney+.
