Max George reveals doctors have finally discovered cause of his heart condition as he shares health update from hospital bed ahead of surgery
As a concerned observer of Max George’s life journey, I must say I am deeply moved by his struggles and triumphs. The tale of a man who found solace in alcohol to cope with the pressures of fame, only to find clarity and strength in sobriety, is one that resonates profoundly.
In a recent update, Max George provided additional insights into his medical situation as doctors identified the source of his heart problem from his hospital bed on Sunday.
36-year-old Max George, lead vocalist of The Wanted, shared that he has been dealing with an uncovered health issue, following his announcement this week about spending Christmas in the hospital for an open-heart surgery to install a pacemaker.
A condition known as Atrioventricular block arises when the transmission of electrical signals from the atria to the ventricles gets delayed or interrupted.
In the video, Max communicated: “I’m wishing you a wonderful evening! I had a chat with the nurse earlier, and it turns out I’ll be getting my scan sooner than anticipated.
That’s excellent news, and for now, we call it a 2:1 block. As we delve deeper, our aim is to identify the root cause before deciding on the appropriate treatment, whether that be a pacemaker, defibrillator, or some other method.
Turning lemons into lemonade, I find myself in this spot, feeling alright this evening, despite the disappointing outcome of our city match against United.
A pacemaker is a compact, battery-driven tool designed to ensure your heart doesn’t beat too sluggishly. Typically, this device is inserted through surgery, which is usually performed using a local anesthetic.
It comes hours after Max revealed he will undergo open heart surgery to have a pacemaker fitted.
Following more medical examinations, I’ve learned that a special device is necessary to regulate my heartbeat as they discovered an issue in its lower region, specifically the bottom part.
He indicated to his chest and stated, ‘I will definitely be getting an implant of some sort here in the future.’
It seems there’s a problem with a portion of my heart, specifically a blockage. The challenging aspect is identifying the cause as we don’t yet have definitive results from additional tests.
The artist behind the hit “Glad You Came” expressed that his current situation remains something of an enigma, even as medical professionals have ruled out certain potential explanations.
Max, who has overcome past struggles with alcohol, stated: “I haven’t touched alcohol for nearly five years now, so it’s not an issue in my life.
The truth is quite perplexing, and that’s the challenging part – it’s the prolonged anticipation. My pulse is unusually calm. They’re keeping a constant watch over it, and everyone has been simply extraordinary.
‘But the waiting bit is tough. It’s just one of them things unfortunately. Whatever I get, I’ve got to get on with it. We’re hoping pacemaker, a pacemaker is good.’
On Friday, the singer expressed that he experienced a challenging day at the hospital. He stated: “Today has been quite tough for me.
This morning, my heart rate suddenly decreased, causing a moment of unease. However, the people here are exceptional, and they successfully raised it slightly and stabilized it, which is terrific.
Many people, including friends and relatives, have been questioning my decision to postpone any immediate action, but there are numerous tests that must be conducted first before we can move forward with anything.
I only need to make it through until next week and complete all the tests; after that, we’ll have a clear plan of action.
Max concluded his message by noting he is determined to stay positive amid the ordeal.
As a die-hard fan, I can see they’ve got what it takes to pull off something remarkable. However, it’s crucial they have all the necessary details at their disposal to make it even better. Frankly, things aren’t going as smoothly as I’d like right now, but I’m sticking around, keeping my spirits high!
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share the news that my beloved Max, partner of the talented Maisie Smith from EastEnders, has announced his plans to celebrate Christmas in a hospital setting this year.
Yesterday, I wasn’t feeling well at all and had to be admitted to the hospital. Sadly, some medical examinations revealed that there are certain problems with my heart.
I’ve got quite a few examinations ahead to ascertain the severity of the issues and the type of surgery required for my recovery.
It seems like the upcoming period will pose some challenges… And, to be honest, spending Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t part of my initial plans.
Indeed, once again, I find myself enveloped by an abundance of love and encouragement from my extraordinary partner Maisie, her cherished family, my own family, and a multitude of dear friends. Rest assured, I stand firmly within the most favorable circumstances.
Despite the massive surprise and undeniably a significant setback, I’m ready to face it head-on with everything I possess! I feel incredibly fortunate that it was detected early.
That single spree approximately held around 38 measures of alcohol. The NHS recommends that both men and women should not exceed 14 units in a full week’s time.
On Channel 4’s Scared Of The Dark, he mentioned that he was often intoxicated prior to our performances. He found it challenging to adjust, so he would consume alcohol to help him appear untroubled by the situation.
At times, it can be challenging to discern whether it’s anxiety or depression I’m dealing with, but in my case, it was clearly more about anxiety that surfaced when the boys made All Time Low reach number one.
Speaking about his excessive celebrations for his birthday, he admitted, “For a week afterwards, I fell sick. My doctor examined my liver and found the count to be quite low. Clearly, I need to take care of my liver, so I decided to stop.
He mentioned that he too found motivation to quit drinking upon discovering that his former bandmate, Tom Parker, had been diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma.
Tom died aged 33 on March 30, 2022 following an 18-month battle with brain cancer.
Overwhelmed, he poured out his feelings to Paul, admitting, “How on earth do you manage? Since there’s no remedy for this affliction, one merely adapts and moves forward, right? Yet, finding a way to cope… that remains elusive.
‘I can’t imagine I’ll ever accept it; the final words I spoke to him were a heartfelt thanks for transforming my life, especially our time together in the band.’
He was more than just a friend to me. Oh dear, it’s so hard for me to accept that this might not remain the same between us. I simply dread turning our relationship into a responsibility or something that feels imposed on others.
Previously, Max disclosed that his sobriety has brought clarity to his life, although it leaves him feeling quite bored on weekends.
Last year in March, he stated that it had been 18 months since his last drink. People often comment, “Don’t you feel much healthier now?
On weekends, I’m just feeling incredibly dull! Weekdays are routine and often uneventful. However, maintaining fitness has been beneficial, making things more transparent for me now. So yes, that sums it up.
In January 2014, The Wanted shared a message stating that they needed some space to focus on individual projects.
2020, I received the heart-wrenching news that my fellow musician and friend Tom had been given a year to live. Sadly, we lost him in 2022.
