Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky come under fire after introducing new family member: 'Was he adopted?'

As a long-time animal lover and someone who has had the privilege of sharing my home with numerous pets throughout my life, I can truly appreciate the joy that a new furry friend brings into one’s life. The story of Elsa and her family’s German Shepherd addition is heartwarming, and it serves as a reminder of the unconditional love and companionship that animals offer us.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky welcomed a new family member this week.

On Saturday, the 48-year-old Spanish actress took to Instagram to announce joyously that she and her partner, 41-year-old Chris, have welcomed a new canine companion into their lives.

The animal, a German Shepherd, comes from Capaill Coloured Shepherds, a breeder based in Queensland.

The company promises: ‘We breed solid, healthy, purebred German Shepherds in delicious colors’.

The average price for this breed averages between $3,500 and $4,000 based on estimates online.

Elsa posted several pictures of the lovable pup, along with some where she was snuggling with her trio of kids, their latest family addition.

‘Our new member of the family, a beautiful German Shepherd,’ Elsa wrote in the caption.

Instead, she faced criticism from both her supporters and animal welfare organizations when she opted to purchase a pet from a breeder instead of adopting one from a shelter.

“It’s inconceivable to me that he wasn’t rescued instead of being bought from a breeder!” This way, the response maintains the original sentiment but is more polite and written in the first person.

Enthusiasts of canines passionately advocate for responsible actions concerning them. The message we often share is to adopt, always!

‘Adopt. Buying is taking away a dog’s chance in a cage,’ said someone else.

‘Elsa adopt, do not accept kennel, or breed dogs’ one more detractor chimed in below the images.

Kerrin Lee from Jades Dog Rescue NSW expressed her concerns, stating on Monday that “an extraordinary amount of people are abandoning and giving up their dogs.

Kerrin mentioned, “By adopting a dog from a shelter or a rescue organization, you’re giving another dog a chance at life instead of contributing to the sad statistic that thousands of abandoned dogs are euthanized annually.

‘We always promote adopt don’t shop, but we also understand that not everyone wants to adopt a rescue dog.’

Others expressed their backing, as someone posted: “What a stunning lady! Kudos to @capaill_coloured_gsd_australia for being such responsible and ethical breeders.

‘From them come our two male dogs, one of whom shares a litter with your girl. They are all incredibly charming canines.’

One person commented: ‘Isn’t it so, isn’t this puppy deserving of a home that cherishes him, simply because another individual was selling him?’

It seems like you’re placing the blame on the dog, but that’s not fair. Whether you choose to adopt or purchase, every pup deserves a loving home.

‘Omg those floppy ears,’ wrote one, while another said, ‘Wow, looks like a wolf.’

Meanwhile, someone else said, ‘Oh my goshhh so fluffy!’

Joining Elsa, Chris, their 10-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha, as well as their 12-year-old daughter India, is the latest member of our family.

The family resides in the luxurious, eight-bedroom mansion worth $30 million, located in Byron Bay’s Broken Head area, occupying a vast 4.2 hectares of land.

Elsa admitted that she hadn’t always been certain about the idea of moving to Australia, and there was a particular requirement she set for Chris before she made the move.

Elsa, hailing from Madrid, confessed that she informed Chris she’d relocate to Australia solely if they resided on a spacious farm, allowing her the opportunity to own horses.

‘That was my deal with Chris,’ she told the Courier Mail.

‘I said I would move to Australia but I wanted to live on a property, a farm, and have horses and he knew that.’

Additionally, Elsa openly disclosed details about her relationship with Chris and revealed their strategy for maintaining a blissful union amidst numerous obstacles throughout their journey together.

She expressed that while we may envision marriage as an idyllic, romantic dream filled with love and perfection, in reality, it requires significantly more effort than one might initially imagine.

Developing and nurturing relationships can be quite complex, yet there’s a profound beauty in facing these challenges together. It’s an opportunity for us to discover more about one another, understand how we evolve over time, and learn how we adjust and accommodate each other as the years pass by.

It might seem flawless from an outsider’s perspective, but every marriage has its own issues and requires considerable effort.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to highlight that Elsa and Chris have been cherishing their marital bond for a remarkable 14 years, with their special day falling on December 22nd. However, in an honest admission, they often find themselves forgetting the very anniversary that signifies their enduring love.

Despite appearing awkward, Elsa dismisses the date as forgettable due to its proximity to Christmas, adding that they always chuckle about it annually.

Enthralled by her spouse, Elsa confessed that she had long desired a ‘lifelong companion’, expressing her aspiration to age alongside the actor who plays Thor.

In December 2010, during their vacation in Australia, Elsa and Chris decided to tie the knot unexpectedly, a mere three months after announcing their relationship and only ten months following their initial meeting.

Five years on, they decided to relocate to Byron Bay, having purchased their dream home – a stunning coastal property – for approximately $7.6 million.
