Following an incredible five seasons, everything culminates at this point. On Yellowstone, the week prior left us hanging with the significant query: Who will inherit the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch? The resolution of the long-standing conflict between Jamie and Beth Dutton is imminent. We bid farewell to a Montana dynasty that spans generations, a 7th-generation ranch that has held our emotions captive since day one. Now, who will be entrusted with the control of this kingdom?

In one of the most iconic TV shows ever, the climactic episode depicts Native Americans protesting against the construction of a pipeline. They charge towards the pipelines as if engaged in battle, eventually carrying them off. This action will undoubtedly disrupt the pipeline project significantly. United, they lower each pipe and allow it to sink deep into the lakebed below.

On their homestead, Travis, Beth, and the rest of the ranch hands are rejoicing over their triumph. Travis then recounts a tale involving Ryan and Rip. Before Travis sets off for Texas, Teeter appears and requests work from him. Initially, he suggests she consult Jimmy about what it’s like to work for him. However, Teeter disregards the caution regarding such a difficult boss but intends to visit the 6666 ranch nonetheless. It seems we haven’t heard the last of this cowgirl.

In a change of pace, Beth leads Rip to an attractive property situated in the serene town of Dillon. She casually inquires if he could envision setting up a life there. Notably distant from urban areas and nightlife, this property offers tranquility instead. With a touch of irony, Beth confesses she’s no longer a city dweller and jests about constructing a bar for him. Little does Rip know, she has already acquired the property. This move hints at Beth Dutton’s readiness to depart from Yellowstone and embark on a fresh journey elsewhere. As we await the launch of their spinoff series, fans are left to ponder where the dynamic duo’s story will unfold next.

Yellowstone: Daddy is coming home

With a cigarette tucked between her lips, Beth pours herself some coffee when suddenly the phone rings. After a series of labored breaths, she informs Rip that the funeral home has contacted them. It seems her father is being returned home. There will be no formal service. Only Kayce, Rip, and the cowboys are expected to attend. She insists that Rip arrange for her father to be buried next to her mother, without delay.

Initially, Ryan begins to gather his things, casting a brief look towards Teeter before Rip enters the room. He’s curious about everyone’s plans following this incident. Ryan is undecided about his destination next. Rip hands out some cash to all present, and their final joint task is to bury John. This small gesture is a tribute to the man who provided them with their lives.

Molly understands that this action won’t prevent the pipeline from continuing. However, they know that their actions will create enough ruckus to draw people’s attention towards the issue at hand. That was the mission.

In simpler terms, Rainwater and Kayce share an unbreakable bond with the land, similar to the heritage of Yellowstone and the Dutton Ranch being passed down. Just as it was once given away, so too is their connection to the land now theirs. They are liberated, living life exactly how Kayce has always desired.

The prophecy foretold in the series 1883 has finally been realized. It was once vowed by James to the native elder that after many years, he would restore the land. However, we didn’t anticipate that it would be Kayce Dutton who would carry out this promise. In the end, it is Kayce, initially unwilling to manage the ranch, who turns out to be the one responsible for its preservation. Yet, the territory won’t belong to them forever; it rightfully belongs to the ancestors. This is preferable to a corporation seizing their land and transforming it into an urban area or a ski resort.

As a gamer immersed in this virtual world, I’ve found myself tasked with preparing a resting place for the family’s elder. Side by side, Rip and Lloyd shared a poignant moment under the watchful eye of a soaring falcon – a symbol reminiscent of John.

If Lloyd can’t be a cowboy at Yellowstone, he’d prefer not to cowboy anywhere else. Rip made it clear that their ranch in Dillion is always available for him. However, Lloyd wishes to tackle tasks on the western side of Yellowstone and try to reason with the urban folks. Despite this, he values Rip’s kind offer.

Yellowstone says goodbye to John Dutton

Jamie Dutton rehearses speaking as Kayce, while everyone else prepares for the funeral. His words closely resemble what Christina had advised. Beth selects some earrings, bracing herself for what may be the toughest moment of her entire life.

Beth is full of anger, already pushing away those she loves the most. Walker strums the guitar as Beth speeds up in the car. Kayce and Beth share a hug and then she walks up to her father’s casket that is sitting in the barn. She knows he would have liked that. With an uncontrollable wave of emotion, she walks all the way up to her father and wants him to go in peace with her mother. She tells her father that she kept her word and never sold an inch of land. There won’t be cows on it, but there won’t be any condos either.

The pallbearers take the coffin outside, preparing it for lowering. Despite being unable to look, Beth stands beside Rip and Carter. As the wind gusts stronger, a bird perches on a tree. For the Duttons, a falcon has symbolized the death of one of their own since Elsa’s passing. Beth vows to avenge her father before she can have her peaceful end. However, she still needs to tend to one final matter first.

Kayce expressed his forgiveness to his father, a sentiment he yearned to hear for a lifetime. Rainwater promised John that he would safeguard this land not just for him, but for all their kin. Slowly, each person placed a single white rose on John’s casket. It remains unbelievable that John Dutton is no longer with us. Rip was the one who lowered John into the earth and then gathered the symbolic shovel and soil to bury him himself. The entire ceremony seemed more hurried than it felt fitting.

Following the funeral, Gator treats everyone with a final meal. Swiftly, Kayce and Monica make their way back home, while Beth is determined and focused. In no time, she changes into comfortable clothing, picks up some bear spray, and takes a knife with her.

Rip spread the final layer of earth on John’s burial site, expressing gratitude towards him. Time to face the wrath

Ryan bids adieu to the bunkhouse fellows and Teeter, saying something like “You’re not great at gambling.” This parting line from Teeter towards their mutual friend’s soulmate. Ryan truly merited a more heartwarming goodbye, and I hope Rip returned his money.

Beth is hastily attending to her duty of justice. Recognizing her destination, Rip swiftly joins Lloyd in the vehicle and they speed off towards her. He shouts for her to stop, but she persists. She has vowed to uphold a pledge made to her father, and later to Jamie, and she intends to honor it.

The promise is met when Beth, enraged, storms into Jamie’s home, striking him with a tire iron and pepper-spraying his eyes. She relentlessly attacks him, but her aggression doesn’t cease. Eventually, Jamie retaliates, subduing Beth and forcing her to admit to John’s murder and the Dutton family secrets. To taunt Jamie, Beth reveals they sold the ranch for $1.25 per acre to the reservation. Their confrontation continues, with Beth stabbing Jamie in the foot, but he manages to overpower her and begins to choke her. Rip arrives at the nick of time to intervene, but Beth stops him, fatally wounding Rip instead. In her final moments, she looks upon Rip, ensuring that the mission is complete.

Yellowstone is set to become a protected wilderness, where construction is prohibited. People can only traverse or ride through it on foot or horseback. Despite being a contentious land transaction, the ranch remains unaltered. It retains its pristine, untouched state, free from human greed. As Kayce signs the final document transferring Yellowstone to Thomas Rainwater, one can visibly see the burden of the world lift from his shoulders. In this deal, Kayce achieved all he desired and preserved the ranch in the process.

Beth phoned emergency services, reporting that Jamie fled following a violent altercation after her father’s funeral. It should be noted that Jamie decided not to attend the funeral. Later on, Detective Dillard arrived at the crime scene, and Beth provided him with clues to help track down those accountable for John’s demise. There are expected wire transfers to an overseas bank account, a fact that had previously raised questions from Detective Dillard regarding Jamie’s evasiveness during questioning. Beth hinted to him that Jamie was the one pulling the strings in all of this.

Lloyd and Rip escort Jamie Dutton on a final journey, this time to the train station. It’s a location where he once vowed to expose and damage the Dutton family lineage, and now it becomes his eternal home.

To conceal the remaining proof, Rip and Lloyd destroyed their car by setting it on fire. In the long run, Jamie received the punishment he merited. Similarly, Sarah Atwood also faced justice. May they both spend eternity in torment.

Following all that transpired, Jamie Dutton, who will face impeachment hearings as an attorney, has mysteriously disappeared. Meanwhile, Teeter is adjusting in Texas. It’s hard for everyone to comprehend the situation of this young girl, but Jimmy finds great joy in having a familiar presence nearby. If anyone deserves a chance at happiness and a fresh start in life, it’s certainly her.

In a change of events, Ryan ventures to Texas to find Abby, who’s performing there. For the first time since Colby’s demise, he appears joyful once more. Formerly focused on Walker, he now takes on the role of her supporter during their road trips. Given his newfound feelings for Abby, he admits his previous mistake in not choosing her. Ranching was once his ultimate goal, but all of a sudden, it seems that Abby has taken its place. Although I believe she might just be a compensation, Ryan needed something to hold on to. West Texas lifestyle isn’t the one he had envisioned for himself.

Yellowstone series finale ending explained: Goodbye is the saddest word

Rip makes one last stroll through the single home he’s always called his own, the soil that gave him refuge. In a quiet farewell, he locks the barn door for the last time. Beth enters the vacant lodge. Nothing remains but silence. No remnants of the past after seven generations labored and loved here. No chair by the fireplace, no logs within. Only an old, dusty echo of what used to be. The ones who still bear the family’s tale are those who remember it, the ones who continue to live.

Kayce gathers his belongings and departs towards his residence. The well-known Yellowstone Dutton ranch sign gets removed. Rip proposes the sign to Kayce, yet he’s contemplating crafting his own brand. He wants to establish his own legacy in an honorable manner.

Tate and Kayce return to a horse auction where they purchase livestock, signifying their start of a fresh life together. Subsequently, Native Americans perform rituals for purification within their lodges and on the land. John Dutton’s tireless efforts to preserve what was once his are now being returned to the original inhabitants, a development that, although foretold, brings a sense of melancholy as we witness it unfolding.

A boisterous gang of children tips over the Dutton graves, prompting Mo, known for his strong sense of respect and honor, to rush out and discipline them for disregarding those who safeguarded this land. It was always evident that Mo was a man of integrity. The headstones Mo straightened belonged to Elsa and John Dutton.

Kayce fulfills his long-held aspiration of ranching life alongside his loved ones, radiating an authentic simplicity. There’s no deceit, violence, or hardship involved. Beth gazes at her family’s ranching ideal, observing her husband and adopted son tending the livestock. It’s a tranquil sanctuary for her, devoid of tourists and a bar where she can hardly make mischief. Two families, two contented outcomes. Until we meet again.

Is this the end of Yellowstone as we know it?

Instead of riding off into the sunset, we can say they’ll keep on venturing away as twilight approaches. However, it remains unclear what their journey will bring since the final episode has already aired. Yet, there seems to be no impending doom for the beloved romantic duo in the upcoming episodes.

According to an exclusive report by Deadline, Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser will return to play their roles in a forthcoming spin-off of the highly successful show, Yellowstone. Given that their characters, Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton, are among the most beloved besides John Dutton, it’s fitting for them to carry on in the captivating world of Yellowstone. Although there’s no specific release date for the spin-off yet, fans are eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for these intriguing characters.
