SWAT won’t get any more new episodes in 2024 (but here’s when season 8 returns)
As a dedicated fan who has been following SWAT since its inception, I must admit that the news of its return in 2025 has filled me with a mix of anticipation and apprehension. While it’s heartening to know that there will be more action-packed episodes to look forward to, the wait seems endless.
Unfortunately, we won’t be getting any new episodes of SWAT to help us get through the winter this year, as the last one aired back in 2024.
We won’t delve deep into what happened during the winter finale. Rest assured, we aren’t heartless! There’s still plenty of time for you to get up-to-speed before the series resumes in 2025. At least we can confirm when it will be back on air, and there are some crucial details about its return that you should know.
When is SWAT back with new episodes?
In simpler terms, episode 9 of SWAT’s eighth season will air on Friday, January 31st. It’s worth noting that due to CBS having later winter finales compared to other networks, it’s not unusual for the return date to be towards the end of January.
It’s quite likely that this is beneficial, since it results in fewer required interruptions during the remaining part of the year. The plan should aim for a more consistent pace, unlike some other networks that might have to switch between work and rest more frequently.
At this moment, we’re still awaiting information about SWAT season 8, episode 9. It’s not unexpected given the waiting game we find ourselves in.
SWAT is moving to a later timeslot
Starting from some Fridays, I’ve got some exciting news as a gamer! With “Blue Bloods” wrapping up in 2024, it looks like the late evening slot is open for grabs. CBS has made the move to slide “SWAT” into that very timeslot instead, so get ready for more action-packed episodes!
It’s possible that this decline in viewership could be attributed to a few factors such as the removal of beloved characters, frequent changes in the show’s future direction, and the challenging 10 p.m. time slot. Contrary to the general trend, _Blue Bloods_ fans have remained exceptionally devoted despite the shift in timing.
Starting this Friday night, instead of seeing SWAT, we’ll be watching the second season of NCIS: Sydney. It promises to be intriguing as it unfolds, given that the show was initially designed for streaming platforms. Unfortunately, NCIS: Hawaii didn’t get renewed for a final season, which would have been a fitting farewell to its family.
SWAT will return with new episodes on Friday, Jan. 31 at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up on Paramount+.
