Katie Couric, 67, shows off nasty pickleball injury in shock photo
As a dedicated follower of Katie Couric’s inspiring journey, I can’t help but admire her resilience and grace in the face of life’s ups and downs. From the pickleball injury that gave us a glimpse into her playful side to the arrival of her first grandchild, it’s clear that she wears many hats – journalist, mother, grandmother, and champion for cancer awareness.
Katie Couric showed off a nasty pickleball injury in a shock Instagram photo Friday.
In an informal photo, the broadcast symbol, number 67, was seen with a growing bruise on the right side of her head, while wearing a ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ t-shirt.
She captioned the snap: ‘When you hit yourself in the head with a pickleball paddle’.
Later in the evening, the star seemed to be regaining her strength as she modeled a festive Christmas dress, expressing that she was all set to dance merrily around the Christmas tree.
Katie Couric’s clothing selection held a significant meaning, as the year 2025 signifies the 27th commemoration of her late first husband, John ‘Jay’ Monaghan, who tragically passed away at the age of 42 due to colon cancer.
The couple welcomed two daughters during their nine year marriage, Ellie, 33, and Carrie, 28.

Ellie welcomed her first child in March 2024, a son named John in honor of his late grandfather.
Katie mentioned that her daughter Ellie and son-in-law Mark were extremely happy, just like parents who see a full moon.
She expressed her excitement by saying, “I’m overjoyed to welcome my first grandchild,” and she added that her daughter Carrie, being younger, is eagerly anticipating becoming a “trendy” or “awesome” aunt.
In the end, she mentioned about her 61-year-old husband, John Molner: ‘He’s taking pleasure in distributing cigars.’
Speaking on behalf of her family, she added, ‘We feel so blessed.’
At the end of the title, the long-standing TV host penned down, ‘Join us again tomorrow for Wake-Up Call.’
In a heartfelt manner, Couric expressed gratitude towards the dedicated healthcare professionals by penning a note over a photograph featuring her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson: “A big thank you goes out to the exceptional nurses at Providence California.
Ellie tied the knot with husband Mark on July 4, 2021.

Katie’s husband’s fight against cancer, which he unfortunately lost, motivated her to work on raising colon cancer screening rates.
Katie married Molner in 2014, two years after they met on a blind date.
