Blake Lively expressed her relief following a judge’s decision in her legal dispute with Justin Baldoni. The judge dismissed her claims of sexual harassment, and Lively stated she was thankful for the outcome.
The actress, 38, publicly responded to the lawsuit she filed against Baldoni in December 2024 via Instagram Stories on Friday. She also spoke out against the online harassment she’s been experiencing.
In addition to dismissing her sexual harassment claims, Judge Lewis Liman also rejected allegations that she was subjected to fat-shaming by a colleague on the set of It Ends With Us, where she worked as both a co-star and director.
Despite this, she can still pursue legal claims related to retaliation, assisting in retaliation, and a violation of her contract.
I’m thankful the court decided to let a jury hear the main points of my case next month. I’m also relieved I’ll finally have a chance to fully share my side of the story at trial, for my own peace of mind.
She also expressed sympathy for those who haven’t had the same advantages, including many people she cares about and countless others she’ll never meet.
Lively shared with her followers that she only pursued legal action because of the ongoing and strong retaliation she experienced after raising concerns about safety at work, both for herself and her colleagues. She emphasized that she never wanted to be involved in a lawsuit.
She wrote that she still hopes others will have the courage to ‘speak up.’
The actress urged people not to get caught up in the online drama, and criticized the use of labels like ‘Celebrity Drama’ to describe the lawsuit, calling it irresponsible.
Lively emphasized that online harassment can cause genuine physical pain, and should be recognized as a form of abuse. This isn’t just a problem seen in the media; it’s happening in our neighborhoods and schools too.
