And let’s not forget about the magic-filled world of The Magicians, which will sadly depart from our screens.

Aside from the amazing new shows streaming platforms have in store for us this year, I can’t help but get excited about the return of some beloved series that might pop up on Netflix unexpectedly, much like Suits, Your Honor, and many other recent hits.

Krapopolis season 1

Coming to Netflix: Jan. 15

For enthusiasts of adult animation and fans of “Community”, here’s a show you won’t want to miss out on! The Dan Harmon-crafted Fox animated sitcom titled “Krapopolis” is set to debut on January 15, expanding its fanbase. Set in the mythical ancient Greece, this series has already garnered immense popularity, securing renewals for seasons 2 and 3 before the first episode aired, and confirming season 4 even before season 2 premiered. Needless to say, it’s definitely worth adding “Krapopolis” to your watch list on Netflix!

NCIS seasons 1-5

Starting in January 2025, some earlier seasons of the widely-loved CBS show NCIS, specifically seasons 1-5, will make a comeback after their temporary removal in summer 2024. Despite this, fans of NCIS can still enjoy hundreds of episodes, either from the returning early seasons or those that remain on the platform.

Starting in January 2025, one of Syfy Network’s most cherished shows, “The Magicians,” will no longer be available on Netflix. In this series, a young student at Brakebills University for Magic Learning discovers that the magic he thought was just in his favorite books is real. “The Magicians” initially debuted in December 2015 and concluded after five seasons in April 2020. Although you can buy the show online, here’s hoping it finds a new streaming platform soon.

Monk seasons 1-8

Leaving Netflix: Jan. 14

In the scorching summer of 2023, the popularity boom of USA Network’s legal drama Suits on Netflix sparked a trend. The streaming service started broadcasting several other procedural dramas from the cable network, such as White Collar, Royal Pains, and Monk. However, these shows didn’t achieve the same level of success as Suits. Unfortunately, Royal Pains departed from Netflix before the new year, and Monk said goodbye in mid-January. Fortunately, fans can still catch all eight seasons of the detective series on Peacock.

New Amsterdam seasons 1-5

Leaving Netflix: Jan. 15

I’m sorry to break this to ‘New Amsterdam’ enthusiasts, but here’s some disappointing news: Starting from mid-January, you won’t be able to stream all five seasons of the NBC medical drama on Netflix. The show, headlined by Ryan Eggold, was one of the early series that, similar to ‘Suits’, gained viral popularity post its acquisition. Netflix strategically released the series in installments to spark interest among new viewers before making the full series available.

2024 saw a buzz in March about NBC working on a spinoff series named “New Amsterdam: Tomorrow.” Though concrete developments haven’t happened just yet, the green light for “Suits: LA” indicates that anything could be possible in the world of TV.
