The Repair Shop 'cancels THREE live tour dates' after show's brand was 'damaged' by Jay Blades charges

As a long-time fan of The Repair Shop, I must say this news has me feeling rather nostalgic. I can still remember the first time I watched Jay Blades work his magic on a broken antique, turning it into something beautiful and meaningful once again. His passion for preserving history and giving items new life was truly inspiring.

It appears that The Repair Shop has supposedly called off three of its scheduled live tours for next year because the venues failed to sell sufficient numbers of tickets.

Experts from the acclaimed BBC series will trade in their aprons and field boots for microphones, embarking on a nationwide tour with their program, “The Repair Shop Unveiled: Tales from the Workshop”.

Prominent figures such as Steve Fletcher, Will Kirk, Lucia Scalisi, and Kirsten Ramsay are preparing to reminisce about their past experiences by recounting amusing tales, cherished memories, and heartwarming stories from their time at the barn.

However, following allegations of controlling and coercive behavior towards his separated spouse Lisa Zbozen, Jay Blades was removed from the live show’s cast in October.

A source from within the organization shared with The Sun that the show’s reputation has suffered, causing ticket sales to lag, ultimately resulting in the cancellation of three performance dates.

According to the report, the performances scheduled for Newcastle, Glasgow, and Edinburgh have been cancelled, and new dates have not been set as of now.

The representative of the show informed us that the live performances of ‘The Repair Shop Live: Secrets from the Barn’ originally planned for Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle have been delayed due to unexpected scheduling conflicts. However, they are excited to return to those locations sometime in 2025.

Tickets for cities including Brighton, Swansea, Bath, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Leicester, Southend, Nottingham, Salford, and Sheffield remain unchanged and can be purchased via Ticketmaster or directly from the local venues.

As a dedicated follower, I’m excited to share that the following cities have confirmed events in 2025: Birmingham, Andover, Swansea, Bath, Portsmouth, Leicester, Southend, Nottingham, Salford, and Sheffield. These cities will host their respective events unchanged from original plans.

TopMob has contact representatives for the live show and Jay Blades for comment.

Although many fans are thrilled about meeting their beloved BBC celebrities, a significant number felt ‘disenchanted’ due to the tour’s decision regarding the venue’s location.

Fans flocked to the show’s Instagram to share their upset.

One penned: ‘Nowhere near Cornwall. So disappointing.’

‘No London or Kent.’

‘Boo no where near me. I would of loved to of come.’

‘No London!!’

‘Does East Anglia not exist???’

‘Nothing near us.’

‘No Liverpool?’

‘Why are you skipping the middle of England?’

‘No Northern Ireland.’

There’s some doubt about whether BBC will broadcast their regular installment of the show in 2025, given that the main actors are planning a tour a month prior to when the series usually begins.

Season 13 premiered on April 10, 2024, at 8 pm. As for Season 14, the BBC has not announced any details about its release date as of now.

Joanna Ball, both the executive producer of The Repair Shop and the managing director of Ricochet, expressed that the professionals at The Repair Shop are exceptionally gifted, diligent, and committed individuals whom she has been fortunate enough to collaborate with. Moreover, she considers them not only as top-notch professionals but also as a truly remarkable team.

I’m thrilled to organize a nationwide tour for them, allowing their fans to enjoy a piece of the joy and fellowship that our barn provides.

Gareth Watson from Firefly Live expressed his joy about partnering with Ricochet and skilled professionals from The Repair Shop, aiming to share a bit of the series’ enchantment with fans nationwide in the United Kingdom.

On this tour, fans will get an exclusive peek behind the scenes of the barn, experiencing the mastery and tales of our experts in a way that has never been shown before.

The live tour, which is jointly organized by Firefly Live and No Third Entertainments, will take place from February 2nd, 2025, all the way through to March 24th, 2025.

Jay was quietly dropped from the line-up and is noticeably absent from its promo material.

Following his dismissal from The Repair Shop, as well as the cancellation of several upcoming projects he had been involved with.

For the past seven years, I’ve been steering the ship on that BBC program where people bring in their cherished artifacts to be magically revamped, and I must say, it’s been an absolute joyride!

It’s reported that he won’t be part of the forthcoming Christmas special for the renovation series, as producers are now pondering over potential alternatives.

According to The Sun, the creators of Ricochet are considering Will Kirk, a furniture restorer on The Repair Shop, and Dominic Chinea, a skilled craftsman, as possible candidates to replace Jay in their team.

Furthermore, it’s reported that Channel 5 has scrapped its plans for a forthcoming documentary titled “A Country House Through Time,” which Jay was involved in producing.

The upcoming show marks a continuation of the presenter’s lineup of fresh factual programs, providing an opportunity for them to delve into a sequence of grand historical estates.

The four-part series sees the steps of the Bridgeman family and their servants retraced, starting from the Georgian era, through the Victorian and Edwardian times, and up to the 20th Century.

According to a source, the situation remains uncertain after Blades was charged. However, television executives were keen to avoid appearing sluggish in their response.

While the legal process unfolds, we’re pausing all our current activities and exploring other options as backup plans.

However, given its massive popularity, it’s quite probable that The Repair Shop will persist, for the program seems to outgrow any single individual associated with it.
