Netflix said these 4 shows would be coming in 2024 but didn’t deliver on that promise

As a seasoned gamer of the streaming world, I’ve learned to be patient and adaptable when it comes to the ever-changing release dates of my favorite shows. However, the delay of some anticipated series on Netflix in 2024 has left me feeling like a cat chasing a laser pointer – always one step behind, never quite getting there.

When streaming platforms like Netflix reveal the release dates for popular series we love, they tend to stick to their word. However, ongoing writer and actor strikes in Hollywood can cause delays in production, which may impact the airing of the following four shows on our list.

Although some shows have already wrapped up production, others are still slated for release in 2024, as per Netflix. Here are 4 shows that were announced to arrive in 2024 but haven’t yet.

You season 5

No release date yet

To put it simply, among all the series on this roster, the long-awaited fifth season of “You” is undoubtedly the most aggravating postponement. This is due to the fact that the other three have set release dates. However, unlike them, the final installment of this psychological thriller still lacks a specific launch date. While it’s predicted for 2024, at least. But if we end up waiting beyond that, it certainly won’t be enjoyable for us fans.

In August 2024, filming for the fifth season concluded, and it appears that there may have been some delays caused by actor and writer strikes. At this point, however, we are eagerly waiting for a release date from Netflix! Currently, not much is disclosed about the storyline, but Netflix has hinted, “Will Joe Goldberg finally face his reckoning?” This is certainly the key aspect that fans are curious to know. It’s hard to believe how he’s managed to avoid punishment for so long!

The Night Agent season 2

Premieres Jan. 23, 2025

According to Netflix’s Tudum page, it was previously announced that season 2 of “The Night Agent” would premiere in 2024. This was part of the shows slated for release that year by the streaming platform. However, unexpectedly, Netflix has chosen to delay the new season until the beginning of the next year. Although this is not a major shift, it’s disappointing as we had been looking forward to watching it in 2024.

In the new season of “The Night Agent,” set to air on Thursday, January 23, 2025, all ten episodes will be released simultaneously. The narrative continues, with Peter taking on the role of a night agent himself. However, this new position comes with its fair share of perils, as trust is scarce according to the synopsis.

The Recruit season 2

Premieres Jan. 30, 2025

Initially, Netflix had planned to air the second season of The Recruit in the year 2024. However, that didn’t come to pass and instead, the new season will debut on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Interestingly, filming for this season was completed as far back as March 2024. Additionally, unlike the eight episodes in season 1, this season will consist of only six episodes.

It’s odd that the release date for Season 2 of The Recruit falls just a week after Season 2 of The Night Agent. Given their similar genres and dedicated fan bases, it seems peculiar that Netflix didn’t opt to space them out more, releasing each season with a greater gap between them.

In the second season, featuring Noah Centineo, Owen finds himself drawn into a dangerous espionage crisis in South Korea, as suggested by the plot summary. What’s intriguing is that his character might uncover a potentially larger danger that could originate from within the CIA itself.

Mo season 2

Premieres Jan. 30, 2025

Back in August 2022, I first dived into the captivating world of “Mo” on Netflix, and I was thrilled when they announced a second and final season in January 2023. But here’s the catch – just a few months later, actors’ and writers’ strikes kicked off. This could potentially explain the delay in releasing “Mo” season 2, pushing it into the new year. It’s quite peculiar because Netflix never officially announced a delay. Instead, we discovered that the release was set for January only when they made the announcement.

On Thursday, January 30, 2025, we’re anticipating the arrival of both seasons 2 for “Mo” and “The Recruit.” In the upcoming episodes of “Mo,” our protagonist, Mo Amer, remains stuck in Mexico, trying to return across the border before his family’s asylum hearing. As per the plot summary, the story will continue focusing on the plight of Palestinian refugees while introducing a new character who could potentially win over Mo’s love interest and steal his famous falafel taco recipe.
