The Split: Barcelona trailer teases new romance for Hannah
As a devoted fan of The Split, I can hardly contain my excitement for this Christmas special! With its captivating storylines and brilliantly portrayed characters, it has become a staple in my television rotation. The fact that the Defoe sisters are jetting off to Barcelona for a family wedding only adds to the allure of the upcoming episodes.
The BBC has dropped the official trailer for The Split: Barcelona.
This holiday season, the popular legal drama featuring Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan is back with a captivating two-episode special! Instead of patrolling the streets of London, the Defoe sisters are jetting off to sunny Barcelona for a family wedding.
Beyond weddings, it appears that Hannah Defoe (Walker) might also experience romantic feelings, as there seems to be a strong connection between her and Archie Moore (Toby Stephens). This newfound bond has been hinted at in the trailer, which was released about two years after her divorce from Nathan Stern (Mangan).
Nathan queries Hannah at the airport about their relationship history, to which Hannah replies, “We went on a few dates about a couple of months back.
Viewers next encounter Archie (Stephens), a somewhat enigmatic attorney, who coincidentally attends the same wedding in Barcelona as the family.
After experiencing a series of painful romantic encounters, Hannah acknowledges that she feels anxious about the prospect of solitude as well as entering into another romantic relationship.
Archie inquires, “Aren’t there things that seem frightening yet are still worth pursuing, Hannah?” During our discussion by the moonlit shore.
Additionally, the Defoe sisters, Nina (played by Annabel Scholey) and Rose (Fiona Button), return alongside matriarch Ruth (portrayed by Deborah Findlay). Interestingly, they each face personal love struggles of their own.
The special events were confirmed back in May, with the show’s creator and scriptwriter Abi Morgan hinting at “complicated prenuptial agreements, scandalous gatecrashers at weddings, and unexpected marriage proposals” during a “tumultuous and boisterous weekend that will undoubtedly stir emotions, leaving audiences amazed even after all the guests have left.
In addition to the main cast of “Derry Girls,” Ian McElhinney will reprise his role as Ronnie, along with Kobna Holdbrook-Smith as Glen, Elizabeth Roberts as Liv, and Alex Guersman as Gael in this international adventure.
The Split: Barcelona will air on December 29 and 30 at 9pm on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer. Series 1-3 are available to stream on iPlayer now.
