Star Wars actors among nominees at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards

As a gamer with a heart full of nostalgia for the galaxy far, far away, it feels like Christmas came early this year! The Golden Globe nominations have rolled out, and our beloved Star Wars stars are among the honorees. Ewan McGregor, Felicity Jones, and Diego Luna – names that echo my childhood fantasies of lightsaber battles and interstellar adventures – are up for some serious recognition next month.

Star Wars will be well represented at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards!

This morning saw the announcement of the contenders for the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, and some well-known Star Wars figures have made the list. Actors like Ewan McGregor, Felicity Jones, and Diego Luna are among those nominated for awards to be presented in the coming month.

In a twist of acting accolades, the Star Wars prequel series actor Ewan McGregor, famously known as Obi-Wan Kenobi, has been nominated for Best Television Male Actor – Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture category. This recognition is for his role in “A Gentleman in Moscow,” where he shares the screen with his real-life spouse, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who portrays live-action Hera Syndulla. Meanwhile, Felicity Jones, who graced us as the lead in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has been nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor – Motion Picture for her work in The Brutalist, alongside stars like Adrien Brody and Guy Pearce. Lastly, Diego Luna, a familiar face from both Rogue One and Andor, is up for the Best Supporting Male Actor – Television award for his performance in La Maquina, where he acts alongside his close friend Gael Garcia Bernal.

McGregor has been nominated for Golden Globe Awards on multiple occasions, one being for his performance in Obi-Wan Kenobi. He last won in 2018 for Fargo. Jones’ most recent Golden Globe nomination was for her role in The Theory of Everything. Similarly, Luna received a nod for Andor, although he didn’t win the award. Today, they have been nominated again following months of acclaim for their recent performances.

Regarding the Star Wars universe, Luna is set to continue his character Cassian Andor in season 2 of “Andor”, airing on April 22, 2025. There’s no official word yet on Jones’ return as Jyn Erso, but she recently hinted at a promising future for her character. Meanwhile, McGregor is hopeful that he’ll be called back to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again, considering there are numerous untold tales about Kenobi set before “A New Hope”.
