Chris McCausland reveals how he is preparing for the Strictly Come Dancing ‘comedown’ when the show ends next week – after making it to the final

As a dedicated follower of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say, this year has been a rollercoaster ride filled with laughter, tears, and unforgettable moments. And among the most memorable is Chris McCausland, the first blind contestant in the show’s history, who has captivated audiences with his incredible spirit, determination, and, of course, his waltzing prowess with partner Dianne Buswell.

Chris McCausland shares his strategies for dealing with the post-Strictly Come Dancing period, as he’s set to reach the finale next week.

The comedy performer, aged 47, has captivated crowds on the BBC program alongside dance partner Dianne Buswell, and is now focusing toward what lies ahead following the contest.

A fresh Sky original family Christmas movie will soon feature him as the main actor, airing on television screens this Christmas night.

As your friendly lifestyle guide, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be teaming up with the hilarious Lee Mack, 56, in our upcoming project “Bad Tidings.” After wrapping up a dynamic dancing competition, this new venture will provide me with an exciting fresh focus.

He shared with Radio Times that something akin to “Strictly” can be quite overwhelming, which means there will inevitably be a period of adjustment following it.

Regardless of whether you claim victory in the finals, exit during the quarterfinals, or any other stage, it will always leave you feeling let down.

To be honest, I’ve found anticipation for this movie with Lee quite enjoyable. It provides a welcome distraction.

Chris and Dianne became emotional after their performance on Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing.

On a recent episode of the BBC show, Chris, who is historically the first blind contestant, danced with his partner Dianne and received an impressive score of 36 out of 40 for their rendition of the Viennese waltz set to the Metallica song “Nothing Else Matters” on Saturday.

Accompanied by Dianne, Chris stood with a restrained emotion as he confided in host Claudia Winkleman: “At the beginning of this series, they request a playlist of your favorite songs. I included this track not knowing much about dancing.

‘Underneath it, I wrote ‘I reckon this might suit one of those spinny whizzy ones’ and I was right! But it’s incredible and it felt wonderful to do it with Diane.’

Supporters of the CBeebies star were present in the studio audience during the semifinal, and he openly acknowledged that he felt emotionally drained by their presence.

He warned Claudia: ‘Don’t get me started, I’m an emotional wreck tonight. I’m telling you.’

He added: ‘You know what you’re doing is big when your really close mates don’t take the mickey out of you.’

Later on, Dianne urged the public to support her and Chris for the finale this week, expressing her immense pride in their accomplishments.

She’s shared knowledge with Chris for the entire period, using no visual prompts at all. He hasn’t had the chance to review videos to assess if he’s done well.

He hasn’t had a chance to observe his rivals or the nature of the competition, yet he has managed to embody the essence of this performance.

‘I could not be prouder of him.’

At-home viewers seemed to share Dianne’s sentiment, and one viewer suggested a complete boycott of the show if they don’t win the Glitterball Trophy.

One said: ‘If Chris & Diane do not WIN #Strictly then there seriously needs to be a BOYCOTT of this show because Pete [Wicks] is being marked unnecessary kindly when we have a man who has learned steps to dances with no visual queue’s & is graceful & beautiful to watch, it’s brought a tear to my eye.'(sic)

Someone suggested that Dianne should be awarded Damehood for her endeavors, as they expressed: ‘I believe Chris McCausland has a strong chance of winning the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing competition. Diane Buswell deserves an honor similar to knighthood, but for women.’

However, one supporter remains unsure as to who the final champions will be: Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec, JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, or Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola from Miranda.

Additionally, TOWIE star Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal are also in contention, and the X user confessed that this year has been particularly challenging to determine the ultimate winner.

It seems this year for #Strictly is particularly challenging, as I genuinely find it difficult to predict who might emerge victorious!

Although Chris and Dianne excelled in their waltz performance, judge Craig Revel Horwood pointed out a problem with their initial dance, stating that their Charleston seemed to lack sufficient energy.

Chris hit back: ‘Listen. This is the semifinal. This is your opportunity to say something nice!’

In the end, the pair received a mere seven from Craig.
