Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke joins Chris Martin in Coldplay’s new music video just days ahead of his 99th birthday as he admits he could ‘go any day now’
As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the arts and a keen eye for resilience, I find Dick Van Dyke to be an absolute marvel. At 98 years old, he is not just defying age but redefining it with his zest for life and unwavering passion for his craft. His collaboration with Coldplay for their music video, All My Love, is a testament to the timeless allure of his talent and the power of love that transcends generations.
Dick Van Dyke has teamed up with Coldplay for their new music video.
The iconic figure, who is 98 years old, will be a mere year away from celebrating his 100th birthday on December 13. Yet, he has recently added another acting credit to his repertoire, sharing the screen with Chris Martin in the film titled All My Love.
In the video segment, Dick reenacts his well-known Penguin Dance from the 1964 film Mary Poppins, as well as the Twizzle move, a dance he introduced during his own television program at about the same time.
The seven-minute movie starts off showing Dick making his way to sit down with Chris Martin of Coldplay at the piano, where he candidly discusses his own mortality with him.
He says: ‘I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now.’
In a different phrase, the actor famous for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang expresses no fear regarding death and appears to be very assured about what lies ahead.
He adds: ‘But I don’t know why it doesn’t concern me. I’m not afraid of it. I have the feeling that I’m gonna be alright.’
In the music video, Dick embarks on a quest to clarify the essence of love and ultimately dances without shoes, accompanied by his wife Arlene Silver.
His children and grandchildren also join him, and at one instance, this Disney Legend stands beneath an enormous cluster of red balloons for a photo opportunity.
Asked what love is, he said: ‘Boy, they’ve been asking that question for centuries. I don’t know.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can attest that fostering genuine concern for another person’s wellbeing and life is no different than nurturing my own. It’s all about empathy and understanding, treating others with the same kindness and respect that I extend to myself.
Dick was wedded to Margie Willett from 1948 up until 1984, and during this time they welcomed four children named Christian (age 74), Barry (age 73), Stacy (age 68), and Carrie (age 62).
In September, Dick joked that he was just hoping to ‘make it’ to his next birthday.
He told PageSix: ‘Just praying that I make it. I’m pretty old.’
2024 saw a Creative Arts Emmy Award being bestowed upon the esteemed Disney Legend, in honor of his extraordinary 2023 birthday special, “Dick Van Dyke’s 98 Years of Magic.
At the time, he admitted that he has just been ‘sticking with it’ for all these decades.
He expressed: “I’ve aimed at bringing laughter to people for a span of 75 years. I’ve been part of this profession for 75 years now. It astonishes me that I’m still active and performing.
‘I’m looking for work if anybody has.’
Persevere through the challenges ahead, whether they be tough moments or numerous auditions. Keep going, remain dedicated to your pursuit.
If you trust yourself, be patient as you move forward, understanding that your ability to accomplish this task is strong.
