28 Years Later gets creepy first teaser

As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast with over two decades under my belt, I must admit that the teaser for “28 Years Later” has left me both thrilled and puzzled. The dark, cryptic nature of the clip is reminiscent of the early days of survival horror games like “Resident Evil,” where every flicker of light could mean a grotesque monster lurking in the shadows.

28 years after its initial release, the team behind it has unveiled a sneak peek, initiating the promotional phase for the upcoming film.

As a dedicated gamer, I eagerly checked out the recent sneak peek posted by the official 28 Years Later team and Sony Pictures UK on platform X, but it wasn’t giving too many details about the upcoming movie just yet.

The majority of the quick video segments consist of moments where a black screen appears, occasionally interrupted by glimpses of an island, the well-known biohazard emblem, various skulls, and a worn-out scarecrow that has an arrow piercing it.

The Morse code snippet heard in the teaser has some viewers speculating that it could spell ‘Tuesday’. If this guess is correct, it implies that the complete trailer might be released on Tuesday, December 10th. Regardless of whether this sequence indeed translates to ‘Tuesday’, it’s safe to say that we won’t have to wait much longer before the trailer becomes available.

In this fresh installment, Danny Boyle, director of “28 Days Later,” and writer Alex Garland return, marking the start of a new trilogy. Notably, “Candyman” director Nia DaCosta is set to guide the production of the second part, with Garland and Boyle continuing their involvement.

The sequels were shot consecutively, implying that the next installment in the series might not be too long before its summer 2025 release date following that of “28 Years Later”.

Following numerous rumors, it’s officially announced that actor Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as the original character Jim, reportedly in an unexpected manner and one that will develop the storyline further, as per Sony chief Tom Rothman.

There are plenty of new cast members joining Murphy too, including Jodie Comer.

In the upcoming movie, the actress from Killing Eve is set to portray a character from Geordieland. To nail the regional dialect, she’s been immersing herself in videos of Cheryl from The X Factor.

28 Years Later will be released in UK and US cinemas on June 20, 2025.
