Call the Midwife star teases “out of control” storyline in Christmas special
As a seasoned Call the Midwife viewer with over a decade of watching this captivating series, I must say that the latest teaser for the Christmas special has me intrigued and anxious at the same time! The promise of an “out of control” storyline for Reggie Jackson (Daniel Laurie) has my curiosity piqued.
Actor Cliff Parisi, known for his role in Call the Midwife, hinted at an unruly plot twist in this year’s holiday-themed installments, promising excitement!
This Christmas, the BBC One historical drama will make a comeback as it airs its inaugural holiday double-episode. The narrative promises to be action-packed, delving into events such as the Hong Kong flu outbreak and the escape of a convict.
As I chat with Radio Times, I, being the enthusiastic fan and actor Parisi, share that my character Fred Buckle, aka Reggie Jackson, is about to step into some tricky situations. It’s all part of his journey towards self-discovery and embracing his newfound independence.
According to Parisi, Reggie has typically been quite protected by Vi and Fred, but as Reggie has grown up, they’ve begun to allow him more freedom and autonomy.
In our collaborative projects, an individual receives a distinct paycheck bearing his personal name, reflecting efforts to acknowledge his growing maturity and foster responsibility.
Previewing the upcoming events, Parisi hinted that Reggie finds himself in a chaotic situation, expressing it as: “In this specific instance, Reggie loses control.
He went on to say: “It seems to make them aware of his potential weaknesses. When things run smoothly, he’s fine, but if things take a turn for the worse, he’s at a loss – he doesn’t have a backup plan or knows how to respond.
Initially making an appearance during the sixth season of “Call the Midwife,” after the demise of his mother, Reggie later became a part of the household of Fred and his spouse Violet (played by Annabelle Apsion).
In other places, Sister Julienne herself, Jenny Agutter, shared with followers that they can anticipate some “striking” and “grim” holiday installments.
According to Agutter, the piece struck him deeply as he read it. It has a certain resemblance to the works of Charles Dickens, being both gloomy yet intertwined with a lot of humor and compassion, which helps to alleviate its dark tone.
This simply acknowledges that we’ve been facing tough times, have faced them in the past, and will likely continue to do so. It’s a recognition of reality.
Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
