On May 2, 2019, former RNLI volunteer Steve Dymond made an appearance on The Jeremy Kyle Show in an attempt to convince his intermittent girlfriend, Jane Callaghan (aged 48 at the time), that he had not been unfaithful to her.
A 63-year-old individual, originally from Portsmouth, Hampshire, was discovered deceased a week after failing a polygraph test, in the £100-per-week room they were renting. The cause of death was determined to be an overdose of morphine.
Jeremy’s ITV program was later canceled, but in September, an inquiry determined that the show wasn’t responsible for Mr. Dymond’s death since there was no direct connection.
In a recent conversation, I, as a 59-year-old lifestyle expert, shared a profound revelation about the significant impact the passing of a close friend had on my life. I confessed to experiencing moments where even getting out of bed seemed an insurmountable task. It was my resilient partner, Vicky Burton, who served as my beacon of hope and ultimately helped me navigate through these challenging times.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Jeremy opened up about a challenging time in his life, saying: “It’s crucial we remember that another person lost their life, but it has been unequivocally shown that my involvement was nonexistent. The past five years have been a living hell, yet this woman’s resilience has seen me through to the other side.
He continued: ‘For two years it was horrific, and I had a complete breakdown. It was Vicky who dragged me out of bed. She saved me.’
The television host, now known for his appearances on TalkTV, reminisced about the moment when the popular program he hosted was canceled following the suicide of Mr. Dymond. He confessed that he was in the restroom when he received a call informing him, “the show has ended.
Simultaneously, it came to light that Jeremy’s wife, Victoria (Vicky), was expecting their first child. This news sent Jeremy into quite a tumultuous phase as he grappled with the significant life transformations unfolding around him.
Jeremy further explained, ‘Regarding my career, I went from being the ruler to being barred even from entering the castle grounds. She continued by explaining that when the TV personality was at his most vulnerable, she had to make him leave their shared bed and engage with our family. Moreover, she pointed out that it was Jeremy’s dear ones who provided him the strength to carry on.
In the year 2021, Jeremy got married again, and his new wife has emphasized that the image of Jeremy as a frightening character on-screen doesn’t reflect his true nature. She described Jeremy as being ‘mild-mannered and compassionate,’ expressing her belief that he genuinely cares for the well-being of those close to him.
Following his comeback, it’s been mentioned that Jeremy intends to make a grand reappearance on-screen, initiating this new chapter with an appearance on Kate Garraway’s Life Stories in the upcoming year, along with additional television prospects.

Jeremy elaborated on both the psychological and physical impact the last five years have had, while also addressing criticisms leveled at him regarding the ITV1 daytime program.
He mentioned to The Sun, “It’s crucial we remember that someone felt so desperate they ended their life, as they found themselves with no other options.
For over five years now, I’ve chosen silence out of deep admiration and adherence to due process, as the legal journey unfolded, complex and prolonged for numerous valid reasons.
My initial reaction upon learning the news was that it was never about me, but rather it concerned Steve and his loved ones.
Then, my immediate contemplation shifted to the approximately one hundred employees of the production who suddenly found themselves unemployed – some even facing foreclosure on their homes. At that moment, I was enveloped in a haze, struggling to comprehend the gravity of the situation, but now I see it clearly and acknowledge the justified criticism.
He added, “It’s natural for most people to ponder over things when they occur unexpectedly. After all, it’s only human to scrutinize oneself by looking into a mirror, isn’t it?
“I understand you might have noticed some areas where I could have improved during the performance. Rest assured, I gave it my all and I’m aware that perfection isn’t always attainable.
However, my mind is at peace, as the coroner correctly determined that I held no responsibility for this unfortunate incident. I was simply hosting a program, and Steve had received approval from both the aftercare team of ITV and his personal general practitioner to participate.
‘Lately, we’ve seen messages Steve sent to Jane and his family following his appearance on the show. Not one of these messages contains criticism or complaints directed at me. It seems that none of this should have involved me in any way.’
It seemed unfair to me when everyone jumped in, it was a difficult period for all involved. However, I found myself under intense scrutiny from journalists, the public, and social media; Their opinions appeared centered around me and the program. I believe there were other important aspects of the story that needed to be revealed over time.
As a conscientious lifestyle advisor, I am thrilled to share that, after enduring a challenging 5 ½-year ordeal filled with unfounded allegations, misinformation, and unjustified criticisms, I can now say that my name has been exonerated. Throughout this period, I chose to remain silent, upholding the integrity that is synonymous with me. The inquest has finally brought the truth to light, vindicating me and restoring my reputation.
Today, it has been unambiguously determined by the Coroner of His Majesty that Jeremy Kyle played no role whatsoever in the heartbreaking suicide of Steve Dymond. The unfair accusation against him has been dispelled, and his name has now been officially vindicated.
In deference to Mr Dymond’s family and the ongoing judicial process, Jeremy has consistently chosen not to disclose specific details about the case during the active legal inquest. Despite facing untruths, baseless accusations, and unwarranted criticism for over five and a half years, he has remained resolute in his silence.
‘These difficult times have had a significant impact on him and his loved ones, but he expresses heartfelt gratitude towards those who stood by him in his time of need.’
